Will never forget a match in the late 60’s when one flew the length of the pitch at RP from Roker end to Fulwell end flanked by two fighters.

The crowd went very quiet. A reminder of what was going on in the Cold War.

I was trying to find a video I’d seen from her final flypast up here - someone was virtually underneath and the noise was biblical but I can’t find it now.

I was parked on the Nissan slip road off the A19 when it did it’s flypast but didn’t video it.....absolutely incredible noise and smell of jet fuel as it was being literally dumped into the engine

After a RR Merlin/Griffin, it's the best mechanical noise ever. The howl at 85+% throttle is immense

He's got hearing aids yes. Was based at RAF Akrotiri between 69 and 74 when the Turks invaded and they lost everything.
