Takeover in trouble

Mate if we don't get promoted this season its one of the biggest fuck ups of all time

Should never have been allowed to happen last year
it wasnt lack of investment that stopped us getting promoted-it was incompetent people emmployed hte football department. simply putting more money in for the same incompetents to manager wont change anything.

Presuming Donald is telling the truth.
well he has been shown to be. he said the takeover wasnt imminent-the journo named a date-the date has passed. so donald was definitely right about that and the journo wrong.
the problem the malcocntents have to face up to is simple.
They said donald was here for the short term to make a quick buck.
They also said oit would be easy for him to sell the club for a massive profit cos he got it for fuck all.
Now, he hasnt sold the club, so either he wasnt trying for a quick sale, or he was but it tunrs out safc wasnt the bargain some people made it out to be, and its hardder to sell...it can only be one or the other, but either scenario means the malcocntents and journalusts are wrong.

There is the third option - the deal was due to go through in June, as reported, but the buyers pulled out. In that scenario, Donald has been lying and the journalists reported correctly based on the facts at the time.

but deals are never "due to go through" unless things are signed. the journo gave a specific date-no deal of that size in the history of the world would have a specific date that far in advance.
Of course SD said he was talking to people, but he always said nothing was close, he said they hadnt even done a heads of terms in May, and thats a very early stage of such a deal. he refrerred to them as "one of the groups" that was interested..when the papers were talking bout who their director of football was going to be. Ive no doubt SD wastalking to these guys, and peraps they did pull out, all sorts of reasons why that could happen-but most of those reasons would go away if SD wanted a quick dale because he is after a quick buck, so he wont have been.

The only person to claim a deal was going through was Alan Nixon. Donald has only ever said he's been talking to potential investors. He's also said he could just as easily turn them down as take them on. If there is no deal, it's not because Donald has lied; it's because no deal ever got remotely close to completion.

One thing is for sure, the rumours/information (I say that as we don't know what is true and what isn't) are coming from someone within the club. Why does this person/people feel the need to get the information out? The one thing about him not been as forthcoming is that speculation turns into tittle tattle. It gives people freedom to make things up which helps nobody.
Or her. That's a rather sexists view.:(

I get your point. These stories are coming from somewhere.

I find the timing of these "briefings" "release of information" "unfounded rumours" interesting, it's almost as is someone wants to destabilise the club, the questions for me would be who and why?

Conversely of course we are getting closer to the school holidays, schoolchildren have more time to play on message boards and everyone, including me, is taking this far too seriously.

Perhaps it's time to chill and just let things play out

I've got no idea what happened, however it's essentially Nixon's word (or at least what he's been told by someone he trusts as a source) against Donald's. Donald may be right, but if I was a Sunderland fan I wouldn't be taking his word as gospel just because he's your chairman.

A possible scenario is that he needs investment or a takeover to be able to run the club, as he gambled all his money on Grigg getting the club promoted last year. He's not got any way of continuing to run the club, without running up increasing amounts of debt. That would explain why there's been limited transfer business, with only free transfers currently being linked, and could also explain Cattermole leaving, with his full wages being paid over a longer period of time. It lessens the current financial burden, but doesn't take it away, like getting a 0% credit card for a balance transfer. It also becomes someone else's problem, as Donald wont be here in a few years time.

If this scenario is true, it would also mean Donald is a liar who is about to have everything crumbling down on him, but that would explain his promises of aiming for 100 points and top signings that never came to fruition, always being imminent, but then disappearing off social media when he runs out of time to come good on his promises. It's the same thing snake oil salesmen did in the wild west: string along a town for as much as they could, then disappear when they were about to be caught.

I recognise all these patterns from Portsmouth, and I hope it's just coincidence for your sakes, however it's probably best not to ignore the warning signs because you trust Donald.

the invesyor talks broke down so a lot of things are being progressed?
also people are back from holiday?
The stories have been going around for awhile. I don't believe it just people making things up because they have a grudge against Donald. I find it suspicious that the friendly was announced yesterday and then Catts leaves. The game was meant to be his testimonial.

We need to know the real truth. Not titbits from journalists who are getting their information from somewhere. And not PR bull from the club.

This.

Never really expected it to happen.

Yup, that "leak" was a rehash of old rumours with a couple of extra titbits that could only have come from inside the club.

The loans are real, the predicted signings have started and Stewy has been like a rabbit in the headlights ever since.

Takeover was closer than what we have been led to believe imo. Whilst it hasn't been made public its been discussed in private. Methven was up the week before last for it, and presumably he was able to do that ALS interview while he was here (confirming he was indeed up here?).

We've spent a month being told takeover isn't affecting anything and we are carrying on as usual but nothing at all has happened during that time and within 24 hours of a report comes out the takeover has collapsed (and transfer targets have changed) we sighn someone we haven't been linked to at all until that day, Catts leaves, press season friendly is announced and Donald quits twitter.

That's a lot to happen in such a short space of time and is all either very coincidental, or has been hanging on this takeover either going through or not. Presumably these RAWA minutes will be quick to come out now as well.

Not that that in really arsed if there's a takeover or not as it stands tbh.

And where are you going to get that from? And how would you know it was the truth?

stewart told you all what was happening-you chose to believe the journalists instead. Wass the game "meant" to be a testimonial? What Stewart said when asked about it was the player hadnt requested a testimonial and it had to come from him.
You people chose to believe a jornalist because it suited your agenda..when it turns out, as some of us warned you, that the journalist was talking shit, your response is to blame SD as if its his fault. He always said he would talk to people, nut mought mot accept any offer. But you chose to believe Alan Nixon's easy to disprove story instead-that refl;ects on you-not SD. I dont see why he should bother communicating-he isnt believed when he does. People have literally believed the peterboroiugh chairman instead of him-and the peterborough chairmn is being sued for dishonesty. They have believed a sun journalist ahead of him-and stewart won a legal case because they lied about him. They chose to believe a daily mail journalist ahead of him-when the story had glaring easy to prove inaccuracies.

there is no way a pre season friendly was arranged in a day-it woul;d take ages. The council have to di an approval..the game was announced late morning MOndaycouncil pen pushers dont act that quickly, never mind dutch football teams who have to discuss quite a lot prior to coming to the UK to play a lower legaue team I ould imagine.

I've not said it was arranged in a day you knacker. I've said it was announced within 24 hours.

It could have taken 3 month to arrange but still have been arranged a week ago and sat there until yesterday.

Jesus christ.

what? we know this isnt true-because the club is profitable, and SD has put in much less than he thought he would need to. Donald had to show he had £50m to run safc-because the FA thought it would lose that much in the first two years..it wont. I dont care who weare being linked with-links are bollox. We were linked with expensive players though-and then signed someone we werent linked with.

Unless they were waiting for Catts to sort out what he wanted to do, testimonial, leave or whatever. If the plan was for it maybe to be a testimonial, they couldn't announce it until Catts made up his mind about things. Pure specualation, admittedly, but it fits the facts.

so if it was arranged ages ago-it had nowt to to with the takeover and nowt new happened? Could it be as simple as the press officer was on holiday? Again people came on here whining we hadnt enough pre season organised-that the takeover was holding it up. They announce one-and rather than folk admit they were wrong-they try to find a conspiracy to suit their agenda.

I think all that info came from Donald and his associates, though. If they were trying to con you, of course that's what they'd say.
