Cricket World Cup 2019

Atherton writing today suggests we are basically banged up with injuries.

Archer playing through injections. Rashid bowling too slow because his shoulder is fucked. Roy, we know about. Morgan, the back is an issue.

Leaving out Hales not looking wise in hindsight.

I would move Ali to open and bring in Plunkett. Lot of talk about the spinning wicket, but we don't know. I'd back Moeen - might sound mad, but this is his hometrack and his record against India is terrific.

Talking of which, we haven't actually lost at Edgbaston since before the last world cup - it's our best ground, both in ODI and Test. Here's hoping.

Why we chose to play Australia at lords n India at Edgbaston I’ll never know

Talk about handing your advantage away

What about Bangladesh or SL?
Bangladesh will lose to India and beat Pakistan. Sri Lanka will never beat South Africa, West Indies and India.

I would have preferred our next game to have been NZ as we are most likely to beat them. Will be worrying if we lose to India, although it will tempt me into a bet for us to win it outright

Agreed, we need to win both game bar some freak results.
The only freak result we need is Bangladesh to beat Pakistan and I wouldn't say that would be such a freak.

Let's assume we win one of the remaining two games.
This could very well mean that both Sri Lanka and Pakistan would go into their final games knowing a win takes them above us.
I wouldn't like to bet on them both failing, especially as Pakistan would be playing an already eliminated team.
Though it could of course happen.

Do we have a choice in this like?

Because if we do I massively agree - and more. The whole selection of our matches/venues was insane from a likely pitch/demographic/track record perspective. Not just these last two.

Aussies at Edgbaston always. In fact, everyone at Edgbaston other than Pakistan/India would be a good idea.

I have assumed the fixtures and locations had nothing to do with the ECB.
If they did arrange it like this I would be raging, fell really horribly for us, though we still should be/have been good enough to finish top 4.

All the top journos were saying this, sounds like we did, why we are moving all around the country to play games

Also NZ at Durham too, can’t think of one more suited

Mind I can imagine the outcry from the English cricket public if they had based themselves day in London and played most of their matches at Lord's and the Oval.
If they don't qualify then it's because they have not been good enough at the most important time in the last 4 years.
Then again if they win the next 2 matches they will go into semis full of confidence.

So we're the top ODI team over the last four years at all venues in any country, and we need to be worried about facing any opposition on any of our home grounds? Yup, it's typical England that. Can you imagine any other country saying they wouldn't want to play a team on a certain ground, at home?

Just a point of order, games at CLS this coming week been mentioned it will be cold cliche

Well it’s cracking the pavements currently

Thing is this is not the team that’s beat all comers everywhere. There is no hales, plunkett or David Wiley. All absent due to choice. It’s led to order changes and a lack of variety with wood and archer

Shocking amounts of excuses here! It's amazing.

England played Pakistan on the Headingly strip where they scored 5 zillion runs, including 444 against Pakistan, and a world record against Australia. It's also where Pakistan were smoked by India in the Champions trophy. That was literally the last patch on earth Pakistan would want that match played.

And afraid to play Australia at Lords!?? That's like the footy team saying we shouldn't play at Wembley FFS.

Let’s have a Gayle ton today please and knock the cockiness a little out of the Indian fans

Sunil Ambris opening. I’ve never heard of this lad. His dad victor used to do illustrations on time team iirc

Lets be honest, India are nowhere near as good as we think they are

Also doesn't help the ICC doing everything they can to help them

Yeah, you clearly dont know much about Indian cricket do you.

Some teams had played 3 times before they had played ffs
