Last Ashes over here his record looked great but he got all his runs at Lords and The Oval on flat pitches. The other 3 games he barely got a run IIRC. As Rat says he does find it difficult on seaming wickets but who doesnt?
And that's why we will never whitewash them in a home Ashes series the way they regularly do to us in Australia.
We always give them at least one, often two, Aussie-like pitch(es) to play on. We then have to play out of our skins to try to beat them on said pitch(es) - the best outcome we can then usually hope for is a draw as they generally outplay (and often beat) us when conditions favour their batsmen.
We should play the whole series on 'provincial' grounds - Edgbaston, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Headingley, and Durham - and see how they cope with more typical English pitches and conditions. It'll never happen of course as it's too 'North-centric' and, god forbid, London won't get a game to host.
