Not surprised like, maybe this one was harder to stop, but in general the regime is like the fact they can generate income from players who have never played for the first team

its been a joke since the new owners came in, absolute chaos in the academy, I worry for it
They can make a quick buck on it and that's what they are doing. Forget the propaganda about nothing they can do to stop it.

Very short sighted

Players aren't leaving because they aren't getting 1st team action, its nothing to do with that
thats right-they are leaving because higehr divison clubs want them-or because teams abroad offer them huge salaries because they are top flight-its happeninf to man city man utd arsenal and chelsea-but aye, its the owenrs fault its happening here.

how would you stop this? man city cant-but you think safc can?
what has changed over the past year is we are league one-so shit..and players wantto leave shit.

Nope, not true, you don't have a clue on this one mate.

You're talking shite again, I know for a fact of whats going on at younger age groups, players have been hawked around.

oh ye sp which bit isnt true? the bit where i sauy man city are losing players to germany? the bit where i say kids would rather be at liverpool than safc in league one? i agree with you the lack of first team action probably isnt that much of a consideration-the huge wages a premier league club pay children is-and the bungs to parents etc

yes they have been hawked around-the owner said as much-when the player says they want to leave-he gets it from them in writing saying that.
then..rather than take the minimum mandatory compensation-he tries to maximise the money for a player that is leaving anyway and cant be forced to stay. Glad we agree.

Freedom of movement and player agents, put those two together and we have the answer.

You would be happy for people responsible for the club to hold there hands up and say because there are obstacles and it can be difficult, sometimes impossible so we shouldn't even bother trying to improve?

It's not black and white as some would have you believe.

At least when they sell the club we won't have to listen to your nonsense anymore

i agree with the sentiments here for sure-though i disagree that there is anything a club in the third diviosn can do when a club in a higehr divison come in-now thats not to say there is nothing can be done-just that its limited what can be done.

Just looked at the safc site and it just says this;
One of nine new faces in Sunderland under-18 squad this season, Jacob joined the club as a central defender.

Jacob is a tall, commanding left-footed defender with an excellent hard-working attitude.

It looks like he was only with us for a season. Aussie kid. Never made much of an impact. Ho-Hum. Non story.
BTW you have to remember that 'stories' in newspapers are only there to stop the adverts from bumping into each other!;)

There are so many ways Rich. Im not going to type out an essay or am I saying that this lad would have stayed had we done things better, but can you imagine how damaging an attitude of "it happens elsewhere, what can we do?" would be if it was held by the club?
what other attitude can you have? there really is nothing you can do about it

no idea i'm just kind of annoyed we had an academy team good enough to get to the u23 European finals and two years later thet weren't good enough for league 1
wouldn't pay too much attention to results at that level we weren't even in the top flight of u23's yet have produced Rice and Diangana for the first team with others ready to come through

that is the ONLY result that matters with youth football - players in the 1st team

It's happening all ower the country, we can't stop young lads going
If we'd played them more so they had a chance.
Last season was f***ing rubbish for blooding players.
Heres a 19 Yr old wanted by hoffenheim and he wasn't deemed good enough to play league one or even f***ing checkatrade.
No wonder he fucked off

how? you can only get a max 150k for an under 16 player.

you also can't stop them moving if they wish to
