They tell us nothing really. My head was spinning when he was trying to explain the deal for buying the club. It's all smoke and mirrors, mandrox buying this, the club owns that, Ellis still has this, borrowed against three months of parachute payments. It all means nothing to the normal fan so why bother?

Im pleased he explained it.

Charlie seemed to bang on like he was the saviour, they did this for the fans, the club has 'got under his skin'. Its all bollocks, they did it to make money. Buy a failing asset, turn it around, sell it on at big profit.

Again, that's fine but let's not make out he's doing it for any other reason. He doesn't love the club, he doesn't love the fans, he has no connection with us other than financial.

I wish Charlie especially, would stop giving it the Billy Big Bollocks about saving the club. He's done it to make a profit, nowt else

Cracks would always begin to appear if we failed to get promoted.

It meant quite a bit to me and I am a normal fan, you say why bother but nobody forces anyone to listen. I find it really difficult to comprehend people now complaining we have too much communication especially given what we had before.
I for one really enjoy the podcasts and think it's great they do them, even if I don't always agree with what they say and that they can't always give the full story.

Agree to disagree mate, the podcasts are about PR and getting their message across. I'd prefer them to keep quiet and just do the job they're supposed to be doing.

So long as you accept that that comes with no right or opportunity to be informed about what's going on or to have your questions answered. Of course, if your main aim is just to bitch about the club on a forum, you may find that preferable.

I'm not really fussed either way whether they do a podcast or not. What bothered me was Charlie's attitude, trying to force his agenda, getting arsey when asked difficult questions.

He was the guest, it's not up to him what questions are asked.

The mask has slipped this week, no longer the happy chappy that just wants a drink with the fans

Some fair points.

That's the point though, they'll only answer what they want to, and then its the sanitised version.

It's up to him to choose whether or not to answer them though. They were basically asking the owners to conduct Will Griggs' and Jack Ross's staff appraisals in public, and that's bang out of order. Compared to what I'd have said, Methven was the epitome of diplomacy.

They were happy to take the plaudits on the podcasts when things were going well on the pitch. Cant just pick and choose

So you players' staff appraisals conducted in public. Glad we established that.

Nobody expected him to slagg off Grigg, just give an assessment of how things went. He could have been diplomatic without being offensive to Grigg. Instead he was just an arse

When things were going well on pitch and Donald/Charlie were asked about it on previous podcasts did they say no cant speak on that, that Ross's domain?

What do you mean by force his agenda?
I kind of agree on the questioning, he shouldn’t be able to decide them but having said that I can see why he tried to move that on it wasn’t going anywhere.
I’m not sure there was ever a mask to slip, he has been fairly consistent as far as I can tell. He was always going to be the one to put his foot in it.

Agreed.

Not what happened IMO.

The questions weren't "difficult" they were leading, unprofessional, disrespectful to the owners, manager and players, and a waste of the owners' time. If you're getting the owners in, ask them about the things they do, don't bitch about their staff to their faces, try to get them to agree with you, and then whine when they get arsey at your own arseyness towards them and their staff.

I'm glad Charlie isn't thick enough to answer such a leading question.

Got about 45 mins left. Proper edgy the pair of them, some contrast to the podcast 12 months ago.

Probably highlights the strain running a big football club can put on you. Especially when it’s under performing on the pitch.

On Methven; he’s a Tory, enough said.

However he wants us to do well no doubt, his arrogance was well placed when saying they shouldn’t be talking about individual players and their performances to an extent. It’s unfair for owners to criticise a player that grafts for their team.

This. Felt very much that the Grigg line of questioning smacked of an immature supporter wanting answers for why it didn’t work. There are a hundred reasons why it didn’t work, doesn’t mean it won’t work next season.

No employer worth his/her salt would do that in public. Even when Charlie tried to nip it in the bud Graham/Graeme(?) cut over with ‘I have to ask’ or similar. No, no you don’t.

Think he knew he overstepped a mark because he was trying to be pally pally after that and trying to lift the atmosphere with self deprecating jokes and SD and CM we’re having none of it.

This is where too much transparency can get awkward. The questioning around Grigg shouldn’t have been asked like that, if I was Donald / Methven I’d have established ground rules before the recording started on shit like that.
