Good examples. He's kind of a paradox like. He can gamble recklessly as above, but he can also be one stubborn bugger and gamble losing a deal over a simple point of principle a la Staveley. Its not my club and I wouldn't relish any success they may have, but I have to admit its good theatre sometimes.

The constant in both is he's acting on emotion rather than rational thought.
99% of people would do due diligence.
99% of people think about the repercussions of not getting promoted when gambling on running up a spectacular amount of debt.

He was "balls in" both times, "betting the farm" on the outcome. That takes either balls the size of footballs or sheer recklessness.

The Staveley thing was (I'm guessing?) because he began to assume he was being 'used' by her which means she was 'taking the piss out of him'? I don't really know because the truth didn't really come out?

Like I said it's probably going to be difficult to negotiate 'a sliding scale of shared risk' with someone like that who acts on his emotions so much and probably wants a completely clean break from NUFC.

Big Mike "ready to play the long game"

It's not happening.

There isn't a single quote or even mention of "sources close" in that.

The club has consistently said fuck all throughout the week of rumours.

And after all of the bullish behaviour of the 'buyer' they've gone quiet too.

And the 'lawyers' "good news on Friday" hasn't broken and the fabled '4 private jets' haven't landed at Ponteland.

No one in the media knows anything concrete at all.

Be funny as fuck if it’s one of our lot who phoned the chronicle and made it all up

Personally I reckon it will drag on but ultimately get over the line.

Problem for me is if I was a mag. Why did the consortium resort to leaking it to the media to help push it through?

That doesn't sit right with me. I hope it does come off and he mags get what they deserve. Someone worse that Ashley.

Staveley got binned because she was a tyre kicker trying to use the media to do a deal for her. She'd tried similar at Liverpool prior.

A lot of similarities with this new fella except it has been reported this fella couldnt provide proof of funds to PCP and Staveley when required. It's a bit of an odd one, like.

Can you remember the time a Sunderland fan pretended to actually do it? His face was all over the evening news and everything

Christ I'd forgotten all about that!

That's what I thought, and putting stuff out via the media thing is really weird considering how Ashley responded so negatively last time.

Tbh I think Staveley went on like a complete arsehole in the press whereas this new fella has just made claims (which currently look unsubstantiated) so may well be getting more patience.

This.

Looking back I wished the mags did get her, she seems like a total chancer.

She's never been in for another club as far as I'm aware. I think the mags dodged a bullet with her.

You could be right.

Everything right now is guesswork.
There's a flurry on twitter about the Hotel du Vin taking guests in and locking the doors.
Ignoring the lack of planes at the airport people jumped all over it, but they're currently being shot down by others saying its Westlife getting ready for a gig.

If you were a mag this would drive you absolutely nuts.

Good enough for them.

Imagine if someone were to start a rumour saying that Westlife were buying them.....

There may be trouble ahead......

Hello and welcome to the live blog for Friday, May 31.

The Bin Zayed Group remain confident they have the funds to complete a takeover but the Magpies and the Premier League have yet to comment. is understood to still be waiting for an official bid from Sheikh Khaled.

This further complicates an already delicate summer. contract expires in a month's time but the Spaniard refused to address his future or the takeover saga during an interview in Madrid ahead of the Champions League final.

The Newcastle boss met with club chiefs in a secret location in London earlier this month.
