Roker Rapport Podcast: With Stewart Donald (Tues 28th May)

I'm quite enjoying it. If anyone had any concerns RR would give them an easy ride, then think again

Charlie is right mind. There's no point asking questions about individuals as it's just unfair to do it in public.

Came across as an absolute bell end in the way he cut the interviewer off though. They were perfectly fair questions and if the only answer is: “we haven’t done the ‘debrief’ yet” or “we aren’t the people to ask”, then either do the podcast later, have Ross on as well or - if neither of those options are palatable - don’t do it.

They’ve curried an awful lot of favour with an open approach, and they were quite happy talking about transfer targets etc last season, because that built excitement. You can’t now move the goalposts and shoot down questions just because the season’s gone tits up. Answer them as best you can then let the interviewer choose when to move on.

Donald seems a genuine, decent guy, and between them they seems to have righted a lot of wrongs. However, Methven is starting to rub a lot of people up the wrong way and if his antics from today - and the “parasites” comment - carry on, then the goodwill is going to evaporate fairly quickly.

John Park is attached to an investor. No discussions taken place with John Park as of yet, sounds as though he'll only be involved if Donald accepts one of the investment offers.

you cant talk about the performance of individual employees in any business in a public forum,,employee would have grounds for legal action..

I agree with Stewart's assessment of Grigg. Whilst the buck stops with Ross, he picks the team etc, you have to question the players application also.

Grigg cant play in the team we have put out game after game. He's not physical, he's not pacey, he's not tall. Absolutely wasted millions on a somewhat intelligent player was a poor move to try and replace maja.

Poor recruitment = no progress. If they dont change the recruitment strategy ross will get binned and the owners will become a laughing stock. Quality Recruitment is the root of all good teams

he was jacks signing..jack signs all the players according to the manager..he was jrs number one target..

Can we get Connor back for these interviews? Current interviewer asks so many ridiculous questions that Stewart Donald obviously can't answer, "why did jack Ross want will grigg and then can't find a way to play him?". Wtf is SD meant to say to that?
Connors questions were a lot better thought out

Methven getting his back up about asking questions about Grigg, well done the lad for saying I’m a fan I have to ask that question. If CM isn’t happy getting questions like that, don’t come on a fans podcast. Stick to slagging us off on the radio.

So what. Lool at all the signings made under ellis short's tenure. More money spent than what this setup probs are worth.

Spend on shite and the manager gets binned and the owner is under huge pressure. Ellis short went from hero to zero v quickly.

Sunderland are an absolute embarassment of a professional club. Other clubs (i.e. wigan) must laugh their cocks off when we come trotting in to buy some shite player off them for top dosh. Smells like same old shit to me like

leghally a manager cannot discuss the performance of an employee without having discussed it with the employee first...safc is not different to any other employee in that regard..

What does that have to do with the way Methven dealt with it?
he tried to stop it happening..which would be the thing to do like if there are legal implications..

I haven't listened to the podcast but it's not Methven or Donald's fault (nor their place) to be commenting on tactical issues. If the SMB is happy for Donald to sign the players and pick the team then they'd be within their rights to question the signing and tactical set up.

utterly ridiculous line of questioning.

For what it's worth - everyone was buzzing about the Grigg signing. It goes wrong and all of a sudden the SMB thinks Donald/Methven should have known better.

What a surprise, another goalkeeper for whom the ownership can do no wrong.

aa football club is not different in law to any other business from an employment law perspect9ive..people were asking if its griggs fault! thats literally asking to review an employees performance prior to the empooyee being consuklted!

It’s a supporters podcast. We’re bothered about what we see on the pitch man.

Nobody thinks they should have known better, we want to know what they think.
