Charlie Methven on metro radio

Well I think by most indicators of what represents a ‘big’ club we rank higher than Charlton do, but I’m not really interested in a dick measuring contest with them. The fact is, Charlie Methven made it that in that little interview.

The interviewer said for a club of our size, we can’t be in League One before being cut off by Methven. Now if the interviewer is talking about the size of budget, the facilities we have at our disposal compared to other clubs and just on sheer squad size, then I think he has a very fair point. For some reason, Methven then decided to make it a dick measuring contest and started pointing the finger at supporters. Nobody had mentioned the supporters. It was bizarre and completely unnecessary.

I take your point about some of the arrogance, particularly towards other clubs and their fanbase size. But I think we are massively underperforming to be in this division and it’s a massive failure to not get out of it given the advantages we have over other clubs and to start mentioning the supporters when that is hinted at was disingenuous
For what we have at our disposal I agree we should’ve went up and Ross has to take the blame for that.

He’s right about the performance and noise of the fans at Wembley, however having a pop that we sold less than Charlton is ridiculous really.

We sold out a 48K seater stadium on boxing day, sold out the Checkertrade final, just about every away game (if not all) and sold more season tickets than the year before, despite being a league lower.

Starting to come across as a right tosspot.
Also missed the point that we shouldn't have even needed to go to Wembley for a play-off final in the first place. He knows it and the fans knew it too yet stilled turned up.

Yeah, with his experience I expected more. I think he was just itching to be involved. He should have started the game...

Definitely should have started.
Imagine the Charlton dressing room , when they seen him not on the starting team sheet ?
f***ing boring jack Ross man

I couldn't give a shit how many Charlton fans were there it's seems methven did tho.

It's about who is at the game, not who isn't. After all they can't make a difference

We have different views ,but , anyone who can't see thru methven is a bit slow
We have different views but if you don't agree with me youre slow!
f***ing hell man!!
'agree with me or I'll abuse you!'
And this after I've explained to you about 5 times why cm mentioned Charlton fans.
I think I'll stay away from you for a bit marra. You seem a bit unhinged.

Trying too hard to be the hero. I thought they were starting to look very tired; I'd have fancied us if it had gone to extra time.
I thought the last ten minutes we looked stronger and if there was going to be any last minute winner, it would be us but!...the same old thing came back to bite us yet again, the cross to the back post and the knock back for people coming in..Its been there all season and appears nothing has been done to address this weakness of cutting out the cross into the box.....Its been a priority for me these past four season but nothing ever seems to get done about it from any manager.

I said exactly the same thing before they scored. They pressed all game and gave us no time on the ball but stopped in the last 10 minutes which let us take control. I think they were running out of steam and would have struggled in extra time.

However we haven’t learned any lessons this season and continued to give away needless free kicks in our own half which allowed them to put us under pressure which ultimately led to the goal.

Had we not given that daft free kick away they wouldn't have had enough time to get it in the box and score..

Imagine we didnt have a laugh on the saturday man

No amount of noise in the world would have changed the outcome

It's more likely its people fucked after having to get up at 3am and drive down, than it is people who's had a pint the night before. People drinking the night before will likely drink again the next day which will make them sing.more.

That's why it felt like such a kick in the teeth when they scored.

Fair do's
Ya seem easily pleased mind ya , maybe that's the problem

He needs to wind his fuckin neck in the prick.

I’d hate to think how much we’ve spent this season watching that boring shite. The last people to point out are the fans, who the fuck does he think he is?

PR man, what a wanker. He can take his 6% and ram it up his pompous arse.
