He's done a lot of good man.
Folk twist at anything.
Folk on here were gannin radge at him for setting the 40k boxing day target, that no one thought we'd reach and it would be embarrassing.
He helped us get over 46k there, which were all proud of.
Some haters just want to hate.
He's been very good for us

Twisting about anything ???
5th in league 1, worst position in our history and that's a f***ing long time
.Had about 4 entertaining games all season
Owners have got fuck all
Manager is relentless in trying to put fans to sleep
Methven trying to get richer at any cost

Just a few

Hardly twisting at anything
f***ing worst finish in our history , boring as fuck football t

stewrtais definitely not a pauoer in league one terms like...and metvven is probably richer than some of them...stewrat worked on the launch of a business that was sold for 31bn and his take was maybe 5 per cent of that...then he bought a bunch of other businesses...methvens buisness crednetials are less distinguished though..

Yet we categorically failed to address the gaping holes in our squad.

Recruitment is more than just ‘good players’ it’s good players who address issues.

Its even before that its about setting a team formation and a way of playing then looking to buy players who can fill those roles. We just seem to bring players and then hope a team will form itself. In the last 6 weeks we have jumped all over never looked like a team or anything near a cohesive unit

That interview was a PR masterstroke in deflecting attention from footballing failures in the latter half of the season and the questions about how the takeover was financed.

thsi os correct and reflects badly on the manager.

He was spot on in calling how the game unfolded and if he’d left it there then this wouldn’t be an issue.

How anyone can say he was ‘spot on’ for completely needlessly saying Sunderland supporters need to ‘get real’ after being asked an innocuous question about a club of our size needing to be out of this division I do not know. From the very outset he has made a song and dance about the size of the club: ‘the biggest to ever have played in this division’ were his words. He also said were the biggest club in the north east. Now if you say that, and you’re two divisions below your nearest rivals and a division below your next nearest, the best way to deal with questions about playing below our level isn’t to start talking about attendances and fan volume. That’s cowardly IMO.

As an aside, he also wasn’t spot on about Charlton spending a major part of the last 20 or 30 in the top flight either.

Did he say get real? Didnt hear that bit.

The bit about the fans being quiet.. I didnt take that as offensive at all.. just thought he was passing comment on the game. It was true wasnt it? Id rather that than him lie and say the fans created a superb atmosphere.

He was the one who got defensive and started talking complete shite, which was as you have said in contradiction to stuff he has said in the past.

I think we’re on the same page

My previous sarcy post may have got lost in translation

He's starting to come across a right bellend.

The fans need to be realistic because we say a club Sunderland's size shouldn't be in league 1? Him and Stewart have been saying that all season.
this is true.....So,whats changed Charlie??????

Charlton Average attendance - 11,800

He did yes. He went on a tirade about the supporters both in terms of numbers and volume in response to a question that didn’t warrant such an answer. It’s as if he was angry about that and wanted to get it in.

Maybe the atmosphere was poor. If he’d been asked a question about that and responded honestly to it then fair enough but he didn’t. The interviewer said something about the size of the club still being in League One and Methven cut him short in a bullish fashion and then began to compare us to Charlton on the day. It was garbage

He got the first bit right- we really didn’t deserve to win the match (an abject performance with no discernible intent or style of play) and they really do need to get things properly sorted out for next season, as it has been a ‘failure’ of a season in terms of the overall objective. His comments about fans needing to be realistic about expectations (that Sunderland should be higher than league one) and his implied criticism of the fans level of support really jar however; inaccurate and very poorly judged.

What’s happened is him and Donald have failed in what they wanted to achieve. So in a school playground fashion he’s lashed out at the supporters for being upset about it.
this is precisely right-charlie has for for it-when his newspaper business failed he was the same..
