I knew from day one everyone would turn on him

Quite like him myself, a football man who says it like it is.

Aye there’s nothing better as someone who pays money into the club than to be disrespected by the people running the business.

The quicker these fuckers are gone the better.

Which is exactly what he is saying.....He accepted they have failed, the management has failed and we didnt get promoted.......Are you planning on doing any self reflection and wondering if as fans we could have done anything different or are you just going to blame everyone else?
No I'm not. I didn't fail to learn from mistakes that lead us to so many draws. I didn't sit back time after f***ing time waiting for the inevitable to happen. I take no blame what so ever for our short comings on the pitch. If you want to then great, I'll also blame you.

We are not the problem, at times we are part of the problem, its been the same for years but people are in denial. Support is not just about turning up in big numbers. If those big numbers create a negative atmosphere which ours often can then its not great support no matter how many rock up.
Tell that to Charlie. Charlton brought 40k to our 35 so they’re the better club. He’s absolutely obsessed with attendances.

I actually agree with some of your comments about the atmosphere the fans create but he’s way off the mark complaining about how many we took to Wembley

We haven't abused players tho. Quite the opposite actually.
Very strange

Really? Centre backs came in for abuse, Wyke was getting shit loads of stick for much of the season including being laughed at by his own fans. Honeyman gets stick all the time, gooch has had people getting on his back.

Do whatever you want after the game but ffs when every misplaced pass it met with a massive groan and people shouting shit at the players then as fans we are creating tension and stopping players from taking chances for fear of making mistakes......Every man and his dog, every sports psychologist etc will tell you its true but our lot just cant help themselves.

He’s coming across as an arrogant type of mp

Will have been mentioned plenty but Charlton would have struggled to sell out if the final was up North

f***ing brilliant and of course that didnt reflect in your verbal support, you are proving what he said, you are in utter denial.

I wonder how many chants Charlie started.....
personally I think he’s dropped a bollock here. Everyone round my me stood all game, created and joined in chants, but it’s difficult to be enthusiastic for 90 minutes when we are poor.

Nothing major, it was more of an instinctive feeling. I just felt that he was a little bit patronising.

He kept stressing he was an equity investor - not a "wage slave" as he put it. It made me think he was a little unaware of his surroundings or Sunderland's economic climate, and it seemed a little disrespectful to his audience - many of whom would be reliant on jobs with low wages.

He talked about Sunderland being "his experiment" where the focus was more on "supporter get supporter" and building the community of the fanbase - which in fairness I have not got an issue with - but there has to be a realisation that there will ultimately be a correlation with the performance on the pitch.

I was also very conscious of him looking at his watch every few minutes.

I just did not warn towards him.

i have to admit, i've noticed and had these same issues mate. He's been clever in going out for pints and the likes but it is all PR.

Hang on

I did and said the owners should do that aand you called me a thick twat

What a total hypocrite you are. Basically anything is fair game apart from questioning the 2 blokes who have been here less than a year

Just plain weird

So the fans can be criticized but not Charlie?

Are you not a full shilling? Charlie accepted responsibility for both those running the club and the management. He was already critical of himself and said they needed to dust themselves out and work out how to make sure we improve next season.....Many fans need to do the same thing, or you can stick your head in the sand and just pretend its not an issue despite every regime for years and years either explicitly stating or implying its a problem.

When every manager says "this is a demanding crowd to play infront of and some players struggle to handle that" this is not a positive thing.....Why the hell are our fans making it a difficult place to play for our players????? Why not get behind the team no matter what for 90 mins and see what happens rather than do what we constantly do and create an environment where players are scared to death of making a mistake.

Apologies if SEB, haven't seen anything about it. Bit of an odd interview like, suggesting Charlton are as big a club as us (seemingly specifically because they had more fans at Wembley and entirely ignoring the fact they had low attendances at the start of the season so effectively just had a lot of day trippers). Also mentioning the fans being quiet (can't really argue, although I'd argue that the football served up didn't exactly help). He divides opinion a bit so will be interesting to see how this one goes down

Always the attendances with this lad. Probably thinks the Mags should be Champions League because they get decent crowds. As that contention makes clear: its f***ing nonsense. Attendances mean fuck all, quality on the pitch does - which is why not a single player in the world would choose the mags over Chelsea, or us over Brentford.

There’s plenty of people who scream abuse at our players. It’s not wide spread chants or full stands booing but you listen when honeyman gives the ball away. People gan red in the face screaming insults at them.

That’s the same at every club.

One incident sticks out in my mind of a Man City fan, going for silverware, against us and was filmed screaming at De Michelis (sp?) ‘every f***ing time!’. And that’s in a good side.

Chicken and egg....Perhaps if the supporters werent wailing like fannies at every misplaced pass and got behind the team for 90 mins then some of those draws would have been wins....Problem is many of our fans go in with the attitude that they pay their money so have a right to abuse the players.....Aye you do but dont then complain when players then struggle with confidence.

I've got to say I used to moan a bit in the premier league days after years of seeing overpaid mercenaries. This season in particular I didn't get on the players backs and all fans near me did the same. You can't blame the support for the team not being good enough. We clearly didn't get the balance right with the squad and are crying out for players with pace so we can get a 2nd goal in games rather than sit back to inevitably concede

Dunno why you are bothered, by the sounds of it you are getting your excuses in early and wont be there anyway.

Maybe. I haven’t got much to compare to. I know players and managers of other teams have commented on it up here but given what we’ve endured it’s hardly surprising. Was just commenting because it’s not true to say we don’t abuse them at all.
