Winning goal should have been disallowed

Their player is climbing all over Oviedo and he is not able to jump allowing the Second Charlton player a clear vision of the flight of the ball to get his head on it. The move started with a free kick against Ozturk for putting arms on their player and any consistency would have resulted in a free kick to Oviedo.

Oviedo was furious .

I dont buy the argument we were just not good enough on the day, as both teams were nervous and we edged, possession, shots, corners and shots on target. -We did not deserve to lose that game.

We did deserve to lose. We were gifted a goal. Mustered the square root of fuck all. Could have played another 90 minutes and not score. Charlton were bad, we were so much worse

Until reading this I have never heard anyone complain the goals were offside and fouls. They were just down to poor marking and a lack of concentration imo.

As much as we didn't deserve to lose in that manner we didn't do enough to win the game. The link up play in the final third was very poor. They even scored our goal for us and we still couldn't capitalise.

Shite

If the goalscorer was in an offside position two or three seconds before he scored, I would say that was probably interfering, like.

You would. Officials often don't. Not sure if it's changed but not long ago a striker could stand four yards offside on the edge of the box, ball goes out wide to a lad outside to run onto, who then squares it to the forward to score. Van nistelrooy did it all the time.

We were shit and didn't deserve to win.

Did they challenge ours?

They had two shots on target and scored with both.
Except they made 2 excellent chances for themselves by getting the ball into the 6 yard box leaving themselves with 2 tap-ins. Compared to our couple of 20 yard punts.

Two poor teams on the day.
Not a great game by any means, and though the Charlton keeper had little to do, the same can be said of McLaughlin.

Obviously it was a subdued atmosphere among Sunderland fans leaving the stadium, and I never heard anybody getting into heated debate with fellow supporters after the game, after such a late sickening goal that won the game for Charlton.
It was just like everybody was resigned to the outcome of the game, like it was expected that we'd lose at Wembley once again :(

So they were offside before the ball was played but not when the ball was played therefore not offside in any way?
ball to Taylor has two players in an offside position and flag should have gone up there and then. They only justification could be that they were not interfering with play at that moment. As one of the two put the ball in the net 3 seconds later I cannot see this is a valid argument.

One of which was offside and the other, a foul.

We got the ball into a similar position but the hapless Morgan got his feet tangled up.

They aren’t offside then. I think you should go and check the rule book and stop the butthurt. They were on the other side of the pitch, clearly not involved in the play

Fair argument until it comes to the utter incompetent appointed person who has the decisions to make

Think we should have had a penalty when Charlie Wyke hit that shot when we were 1 nil up. Lads hand extended from his body to block the shot.
Also where their lad caught him after he passed the ball out wide too
He got the man and not the ball anywhere else it's a free kick unless it's one of our players and then obviously a booking too

We were gifted a goal and didn't capitalise off the back of that. Charlton players must have been sick. Didn't like our formation although we played some decent football. Final 3rd we just couldn't make it happen.
Going to be difficult to build a good championship with league 1 money.
As ever, i live in hope.

Ref & his assistants were poor, no question. But they're human & dont have the benefit of slow motion replays. Ref is part of the field of play & for good or bad we have to accept what comes with it. That said, were they as poor as our team on the day?

Both teams played very poorly let's face it, only real moment of quality was the flick that played in Taylor who crossed for their goal, it was a lovely touch.

I'm fairly certain we would have won in extra time as there back 4 looked out on their feet from 80 minutes onward.
