Game of Thrones season 8

I think if all the beats we've had occurred but we'd had another 10-12 episodes to get there (hell, just 10 episode seasons for 7&8) then the backlash would be miniscule.
The story was finished though. I can't grasp what more people would like to have seen. I think Jon making his mind up killing Dany quickly was better than watching a couple of episodes of him moping around wondering what to do. I don't think it was the ideal end mind. There's no chance Grey Worm would have even locked him up, nevermind accept a deal. He was killing Lanister soldier's at the start of the episode just because of who they were. He would have killed Jon on the spot. Like I say though, it just had to be brought to a head and there was no right or easy way to do it.

That was good that bit.

Anyone else reckon he's been warging into dragons on the sly? Maybe that's why Drogon didn't toast Jon?
Are you still trying to come up with theories lad? It's finished man. ;)

That would have been a great ending. Jon about to get eaten when Bran Wargs into the dragon who promptly scoffs danny.

Maybe Cersi escapes in a ship only to be eaten by a warged honeybadger in the hold.

The story wasn't finished at the end of season 6 marra.

Guess it was inevitable with it being the last ever show but personally like things going out with a bang. Breaking Bad for example. Although I guess there was quite a few loose ends to tie up.

There was an army of unsullied and Dothraki , not like the new king could just tell them to bugger off as Jon was within his rights to stab their queen.
That was never going to happen with Game of Thrones. You have to remember what the source material is, and what Martin has said about the end. The ending was always going to be A Dream of Spring, new beginnings, and finding peace for the central characters that were left.

They've gotten there too quickly in my opinion, but they were probably mindful of avoiding the long drawn out ending to Peter Jackson's Return of The King, which was pretty crap.

Was half expecting “A few months later” to pop up.
I did wonder at least a few episodes ago whether they'd wrap up with a "ten years later" type scene.

Don’t think they knew how to do it.

Think that's pretty clear.

Winter is coming - 9 years building up to the big event. An hour of montonous, indecipherable fighting, then out of nowhere Arya pops up and stabs him. The end.

Bran - a character that has alluded towards actually being important, but never actually done anything remotely useful, and is frankly a character that no one gives a shit about. Make him King.

Jon - rightful heir to the throne. United everyone against the white walkers. Can't be king because one of the unsullied is really, really sad.

Sansa - randomly declares the north independent. And everyone is totally ok with that.

Yeah!... lets blame the fat old white guy for not mansplaining the fuck out of the thing he made up 30 years ago... and has struggled for the last 20 to finish cos he added way too many diverse characters to the narrative...

Silly about what?

If he'd actually concentrated on it rather than a myriad of other pet projects he might have finished it, but in his defence, he created an unwieldy monster that must be extremely hard to try and bring to heel, or a conclusion

So he was actually important then?

Jon ending up on the throne wouldn't have been GoT Tbf.

Hardly random, the North declared themselves independent after Ned was killed in season 1 and nobody was happy with Jon bending the knee.

That's the bit that rankles like. They should have at least shown how Jon ended up a pawn in the negotiations for peace. Grey Worm's nee pansy but Jon was armed in that throne room, so whether or not he fancied the scrap we'll never know.

The north were their own kingdom for thousands of years. The north hate the south. I don't think that would if been a problem.

Your point about one sulking Greyworm is very valid mind
It'll have all the Catalans up in arms now, declaring they want independance because of this.
