Our fans, including season ticket holders, seem to have an aversion to buying tickets for one-off games, unless they are at Wembley or against the Mags.

I’m not sure either about the argument that we are playing crap at the moment. It’s a play-off semi-final, our chance to support the team and put pressure on the players and for that matter the officials. What difference does it make whether we are playing well or badly at the time, it is an excuse.

We only had 24 thousand there for the Semi final against Man Utd they had 6thousand,, but every one wanted a ticket for the final
 
I'll be there on Satda roaring the Lads on to victory.
If anybody chooses not to go to the match for whatever reason, that's their prerogative, and I have no problem with that.
Each to their own.
I'm really looking forward to the game.

Sadly the game on Saturday is a shit time for loads, including myself ...

... I live around 5 hours drive away so will get back just in time to prepare for Thursday ;)

I'm staying over in Portsmouth so don't want to fork out for the home leg as well.

Can't argue with this , Kent to Sunderland is a hell of a trip , I've moaned about walking 20 minutes from Fitzgerald's to the ground before , me and my mates got a late train out of London after the game with an exile who lived in Ramsgate or Margate , top lad who must live on the train at weekends ,

I'm not sure it will be much lower. There is a decent chunk of people who buy a season ticket who have no intention of going to extra games as they just aren't that arsed by it.

However, hopefully without contradicting myself I do think the low number for Saturday is also telling about the current mood. The football has been pretty boring for a large chunk of the season. We needed to be entertained a bit this season after previous 2 or 3 years and, in the main, we haven't. Crap, turgid football, and a 5th place finish and saturdays crowd is going to be a result of that. It's a failure that rests with Ross.

Certainly something for the owners to consider over the next few weeks.
 
My ticket came in post today, the meltdowns on here will be immense if it's not a positive result, always nice to know there is many more much miserable fcukers than one's self.

The frustration of just falling short of the top 2 positions, particularly with 2 or 3 weak performances in the run in is understood and shared. But on the basis that we want to progress we could do with as many supporters as we can get there to get behind the team. The atmosphere at the recent Doncaster and Pompey games was great and the performances matched this.

£20 isn't a bad price and as pointed out we had to charge it under EFL regulations. We were charged every time for our previous play off games and I cant remember people bitching too loudly about it then. Maybe if we had gone in with some positive momentum then IMO people wouldn't have complained about the money.

Some people above have suggested we have shit fans. That evidently is not true, but I do think we have a sizeable number who are more the floating voter types, get caught on a wave of optimism and will boost the numbers as and when. They will also find reasons not to go when things are a bit more shaky. Despite the mediocre end to the season, I honestly thought we would be knocking on 40,000 for this.

I think the way we fell apart over the last 7 games will put people off, like you say if we'd been going into the playoffs with a bit momentum that might be different. Season ticket holders having to sort out getting tickets is probably an extra clart many could have done with out.
 
We will hit close to 30 with away fans etc , isn’t bad for league one but gutted it isn’t going to be 40+ Considering the fantastic crowds we have had this year , it’s a good indicator for next season if in league one I think our average will be somewhere around 23-25 with the bigger games attracting around 30
