A tremendous season for all 4 teams the points tally for luton, us, pompey and sunderland has been unreal. Very little to choose between all 4 of us a result or goal here and there. I wish u gd luck in playoffs all 4 teams in with a chance, if u make wembley i believe u will smash it.

I do think morpeth macken is very harsh on us, we are a medium sized club not tinpot as he says and do averate about 12-13000 at home (more than bournemouth in the prem) not 5000 as he states. Onwards and upwards

My boss is a sunderland fan and we have had some banter this season, she text me after we went up to say well done and i replied with gd luck in the playoffs u will smash it. All rhe best in the next few weeks, lets hope football is the winner and u of course.
Congrats

The league doesn't lie... After 46 league games we all finish where we deserve to be... Had we been slightly more adventurous we'd be top now but we didn't so we're not... Best of luck to Barnsley.

What.....the club that have spent longer in the second tier than ANY other side? That club??

Kind of proves my point really. Nothing more than background fodder your lot.

Tell you something though, if I’d just got promoted out of this insult of a division I wouldn’t be on an opponents messageboard giving it the big licks. Don’t you have some birds of prey you can be teaching to do a victory lap?

I have a feeling if Barnsley and Sunderland were in each other's league positions the OP wouldn't be here.

Many mackems on this site love to think they are a massive club , your Morpeth mackems is no exception . They think going to the SOL is every teams cup final . The size of the stadium is the equivalent of your bang average man driving around an a 6 litre jag ! And we all know what that means . Good luck to Barnsley in the championship , stay humble , and you have taken the next step to big club status again . Ahead of Sunderland and us . Play offs a complete lottery , especially as Pompey are either bang average or slightly better than that .

In this division we are a massive club, comfortably the biggest. Whether you like it or not.

But your not , in many ways . You have a huge stadium and fantastic support but your arrogance is cringeworthy . Teams come to the SOL wanting to win so badly because they go on your forums and read comments like ‘ it’s their cup final ‘ , the motivation of teams to respond to that is so valuable , it’s like an extra 10% for free . It’s like listening to the team from the pub down the road telling everyone how great they are despite being 4th in the league . Long may it continue , teams like Sunderland , Leeds, and even Man Utd atm think they have a right to be up their . Your arrogance gives everyone else extra motivation

Thank you for your good wishes, and good luck for next season, we got what we deserved ie: automatic promotion, the play offs are a lottery at the best of times. this team we have baffles me sometimes, like the game against Portsmouth last week, easily the best team but still could not win. i wonder if it would be a good thing or not to go back up to the championship this season, the team we have is not up to that standard, the owners are apparently looking to sell, and can they invest in the club via the transfer market to compete in that league?, i don't think so. I like Jack Ross, he seems a decent bloke and i am sure given time he will do good things here, but again if the club is sold will new owners want to keep him?, history says not unfortunately.
well here we go into the play offs, lets hope for the best.

But we are. Our so called arrogance doesn't change that. You're being very very silly

You make yourselves a target , putting yourself out there as the best before a ball is even kicked . That’s silly isn’t it ? I have seen it at Pompey many a time, especially when we were in league 2 we got walloped by teams like Cheltenham and Crawley town . You have to learn to be humble, or the team will suffer .

No. We're still a massive club for this division. You're letting a few people spouting shite and posturing on the internet sway your thinking. For this level we're a massive club and the biggest in the division. That's not arrogance it's just simply true.

Why is it that a fan of any other team who "comes in peace" is invariably about to be patronising as fuck?

i dont agree that they are patronising. I genuinely feel Sunderland as a club is well liked by supporters from other clubs and this board / forum definately is well respected despite the bipolar nature of a lot of people on it ( including myself )

I hate magnanimous posts like this, dripping with false modesty and platitudes coming through sniggering lips.

First of all congratulations to Daniel Stendel and his team. They are a young squad and they fought hard all season, deserve a lot of credit. Did well.

But if you think I’m gonna congratulate you flat cap wearing, whippet shagging, tinpot bunch of fans for something none of you did well you’ve got another thing coming.

Enjoy the rest of the season, have a can of white lightning tonight to celebrate, maybe give the sister a night off. Enjoy seriously, because form is temporary and class is permanent. In 5 years time you’ll be pottering around League 1 with Rotherham and Luton Town while we strive for much better things.

Gloat all you want, until it sinks in that you live in Barnsley and support a tiny club that won’t so much as put a dent in the second tier.

Fuck sake man.

First two bolds don't say class to me. Did have a snigger though.

Big club as in ground , fans and ancient history . I think that’s a fair enough statement . But your a league 1 club and there is no getting away from that . Sleeping giant ?? Maybe . All about money now. Get a mega rich owner you will be a big club

You usually finish where you deserve to, can't argue with those who finish above us so good luck to them, frustrating that it was virtually always in our own hands and we fucked it up, it's our fault we didn't go up.

So true...at the moment the frustration is very close to turning to anger. I really hope that doesnt happen though ive a feeling it might. We have come a long way as a club this last season ...we dont want to feel the same way we did at the end of last summer or it could be back to square one for the owners
