Smokers

Most won't and if they do they'll have paid a fortune into the system through tobacco duty.
I love when smokers trot out the old "Well me grandad smoked all his life and he lived till he was 96"

Aye but what about the millions who didn't.

If people want to do it let them, they'll invariably live shorter lives, stick a shit load of money into the system and not draw as much pension.
If we went down the road of carpet banning fags people would still smoke anyway.

There's less and less smokers so I'm assuming over time the numbers will dwindle even further

In the spirit of all things PC, surely the thread heading should have read smoking persons. Absolutely outraged at being labelled a smoker and not a person.
:lol::lol:

They don’t stick a shit load of money into the system. As someone already said the cost to the nhs of treating smokers gobbles it all up.

Was having a tiddly wink last night with a relative who works in a chemist and he got on about this subject .He mentioned the amount of people who get their meds delivered to there door are all receiving treatment for smoking related disease .He estimated about 80% .

That’s why the government are happy to try and get rid of it. They wouldn’t spend money on advertising how bad it is for you if it was making them money. Sad but true.

I packed in a while back, but a sanctimonious ex-smoker I’ll never be.

By all means talk about the health risks, people should know. Yes it’s a daft thing to do, but it’s something human beings have enjoyed for thousands of years. This attempt to portray smokers as bad people is very strange to me.
