VARguments

When you’re talking hundreds of millions of pounds these things have to be right. Cardiff could well be relegated due to incompetent officials.

And yes, the answer is to remove the money.

So? It's been like that for over 100 years. People are complaining saying the atmosphere has gone at grounds, this will accelerate it.
Just wait until we're on the receiving end of this, you'll never celebrate a goal with fuckin wild abandon ever again.

So, if it were us who had conceded in the last minute of a semi final and the goal was offside, you'd just accept it despite having VAR available?

I don't want VAR available.

Anyone who thinks VAR is a bad thing now should disappear and watch curling or something

Fantastic for the game, and a fantastic game of football. Just shows how much key decisions need to be correctly called. Had this not been the case Tottenham would have been cheated out of a semi final place

It would of been worse had spurs been knocked out due to an offside goal. Guessing some people were happy Germany’s ‘goal’ in 2010 wasn’t ruled out.

For the neutral it's great, for those who go to the games it's shit. Sorry I mean "for those who go to the games and actually give a shit and don't just clap politely when we score" it'll be ok.

That game seems to pretty much be the textbook example of VAR being used properly.

And I still hate it.

If SAFC had been in Spurs shoes I honestly wouldn't have felt cheated - it was a marginal offside ffs, Aguero wasn't trying to cheat.

But that's goal line technology? Totally different?

Sucked the emotion out of scoring goals. All for the right decision but it needs to be something instant like. I'd never be able to let it all out when we scored a massive goal like that

This exactly. Just said to the bairn, remember how you felt when Defoe scored against the mags? Remember how you just totally lost it? Well imagine you looked up once you'd picked yourself off the floor and the refs making the VAR sign. You would never, ever celebrate a goal like that again. Yep you might go crackas, but there'd be that lingering doubt in your mind as you're jumping about.
I'd rather the ref get the odd decision wrong than take that feeling away forever.

It works both ways though doesn’t it? Suppose that was us who got an injury time winner chalked off, or it was us who conceded and had it overruled correctly

I don’t get people’s issue - when we celebrate a goal we go mad. If it gets ruled out then tough shit, it’s the correct decision. If it doesn’t, we go mad a
Second time

End of the day it’s a sport. And you can’t have wrong decisions made especially at the top level of the sport where the margins are so tight

Yep, it's not a science, so you can have wrong decisions.

Ji's goal would probably have been disallowed. One of our most iconic goals of the last 10 years ffs.

Mint.

Another great example.
