You know you could have come on here and condemned the throwing of objects at fans below, many of which were young children & elderly. But nah you find it funny, wouldn't surprise any of us if you were one of the mags in the away end on Saturday.

How did that use to work at Roker Park then when the Fulwell used to chant at the away fans in the Roker End?
Exactly mate.
Because I am not 15 years old. I consider 30 year old lads going to the match just to sing a bit sad, so no I won’t be doing it. Haven’t got anything against those who do but it isn’t for me.

There are other ways to support the team than making up rhymes about the players - shouting, pressuring referees, roaring to drive them on while countering, etc. - all of which I will do, and I am very vocal at the match. I don’t mind the occasional verse of Sunderland Sunderland Sunderland, but I just think it’s a bit sad singing some of the songs that go around.

Is that okay or am I not a proper fan?
You're of course perfectly entitled to think that it's a bit sad for 30 year olds to sing at a match. But this isn't ruddy rugby union. Singing is what makes atmospheres at football stadiums the world over unique and the best in sport. Sheff united, Chelsea, mags Defoe game all amazing atmospheres made possible by the singing. Take that element away and we wouldn't be talking about them today.

When the ground is at it, it undoubtedly gives the players a lift. It's .shame some think it's sad to want to vocally support the team that way. I'm not knocking you as a supporter btw, You'll be as committed and dedicated as anyone else.

I'd say it's the roar of the crowd that makes the atmosphere, rather than singing

How can you abuse players you have never heard of?
They were getting no grief at all, it was a bizarre way to celebrate in the circumstances. If they had been getting shit, then go and shush the fans, that's fair game.
Their celebrations were unreal.

I honestly have no issue with players celebrating goals...they work all week so why not. However, a balance has to be drawn between celebration and inciting the crowd.

The way Coventry players celebrated in front of us I thought we were playing a team of home grown jawdees. Way Way over the top IMHO.

Hopefully what goes around comes around and their stinking club gets wound up and we can wipe the crap off our shoe.

Well The Email thread from Chris Waters been pulled

I noticed that. I had just posted if the club were aware there was going to be trouble why was decision made to allow Cov fans to pay on gate?? Doubt whether thats controversial enough to pull thread but I reckon its a valid point. Anyway hope club have learned from this

Not sure how not being pay on gate would have prevented it mind. That's usually to prevent away fans getting into home sections.
