Shooting in a mosque in NZ...

I hate this argument, because it shows absolutely diminished responsibility of adults.

Kids shouldn't be playing these games. PUBG is rated 18+ and Fortnite is a 12 (because its rather cartoony and outlandish)
I agree they shouldn’t, but I’m sure we all have nephews and nieces, in my case, or sons and daughters, that are locked away in their rooms for 10 hours a day training to kill people on these ridiculous games.

Whenever something like this happens everybody looks for someone or something to blame. Religion, politics, computer games, films, Trump, Brexit, the internet, whatever. At the end of the day this attack was carried out by a group of sick evil individuals intent on killing innocent people.

Tommy Robinson
Tommy Robinson hasn't killed anyone. It's perfectly acceptable to dislike Islam or want closed borders. I may not agree with his views, but he's within his rights to have them. Putting Tommy the Tit and this act of terrorism in the same boat is ridiculous. Have a f***ing word with yourself man.

I'll never understand the morbid fascination in watching the videos like. And then being disgusted in what was on the video. I've been sent it twice in WhatsApp groups today and just deleted it straight away. It's not hard to avoid it.

Watched a beheading about 20 years ago while doing my dissertation on war in Iraq, had nightmares for a fortnight, it was horrific, I will not be watching any of these videos, they need to be removed from the web asap but no doubt that is impossible now they have been shared so many times.

Well stop them. You wouldn't let children watch porn, it's over 18 too.

Don't blame the game, it comes with a warning saying this is suitable for adults only.

My mate commented that the footage is played out exactly like Call of duty like.
That's just because its on a go pro.

This just tells me a minimal percentage of the human race are arseholes and always will be.

As for the chimp story. If you took a human child from its own kind and sat it in front of a violent loop of videos without any normal interaction in its life, I have no doubt it would end up seriously fucked up. Everything we do and experience will shape you throughout life.

However, I would say our real life interactions, with real life people shape us more than any other factor that can be attributed.

Good points, and I can't disagree.

Really? On a thread like this scoring points ? bit sad and pathetic from you to be fair.

yes the lad you quotes supports TR but not once has he mentioned him?
Double standards here mind. Every Islamic terror attack descends into the ‘religion of peace’ crack on the first page (half the time before the attacker has even been identified as Muslim) and point scoring continues from there.

Disgraceful and terrible news. It’s time we really started to have a look and put serious restrictions or censorship on violent computer games and movies.

I unfortunately saw a part of the horrific content and I feel sick.

Sad sad day.
When I was growing up I played the Speccy games like Op Wolf, International Karate, Renegade etc. I watched most of the late 80's Schwarzenneger and suchlike films repeatedly. Most of my toys growing up were Action Force, where they had all kinds of weapons.

I've never thrown so much of a punch at another person in my life.

Violent content has always been there.

In all fairness TR doesn't advocate violent retribution. Trump does, and I won't apologise for including him in this discussion, as he his part of the problem. There's no other western leader who regularly advocates violence like he does, and whips his supporters up into believing that it's acceptable. He is the elephant in the room, and his influence shouldn't be ignored.

That's because of the reaction it gets.

Look at the responses on here from everyone compared to an Islamic incident of any kind.

No one's being called racist, no one's denying an ideology is involved, no one's defending the ideology involved.

Was only a question of time before something like this happened, given the atrocities in Nice, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, London plus the multitude of other smaller attacks - someone somewhere was going to exact their version of revenge.

I think most people would rightly object to an act of Islamist terror being described as "only a matter of time" after the actions of the West in the middle East, for example. The support of Western governments for brutal and corrupt dictators, air strikes which kill and maim civilians and so on are frequently used by radical Islamists to justify their actions. But it is not right to say there is a direct causation between those acts and any kind of retaliation. The grievance, yes, in some cases entirely justified grievance. But between the grievance and the act of violence there are choices. Choices to adopt an extreme and evil ideology. Choices to spread lies and hatred. Choices to actively radicalise and recruit the susceptible and willing. Choices to exploit grievances for a sick agenda rather than actually seek solutions. Becoming radicalised is not a reflex action or inevitable, and neither is terrorism.

People chose to be violent and destroy the lives of others. More significantly perhaps, people chose to groom and manipulate people who were vulnerable in some way to be violent. Other people chose to give in to their prejudices and worst instincts rather than try to be constructive, and help a hateful atmosphere of division to flourish. This was not inevitable. People chose this. People who need to be stopped.

You've also got to remember Trump should be held to a much higher standard than someone like TR or anyone else for that matter. He's the president of the United States.

I don't "support" TR. I just say what I think of him on the actions he takes and don't call him a nazi because I don't think he is a nazi.

He has absolutely nothing to do with this. My views on Islam have absolutely nothing to do with this.

The things I talk about have literally no influence over this kind of behaviour and the argument of we should be silent about Islam so that things like this doesn't happen will never wash with me.

But this guy is a complete and utter liar. So don't take what he says as factual in any way shape or form.

Wherever people are allowed to spout the kind of bile he and extremists on the other side do and they are not challenged and condemned by every right minded person, they lead other people believe these views are acceptable and normal. All right wing extremism and extremist islam need to be rooted out and banned as they have each other engaged in an escalating spiral of hate........All right minded people who want it to stop need to stop justifying any of the things that are said by anybody trying to whip up this hatred.

I would never point score on any thread to be fair, its tragic and The others who have the same radial views need locking up.

I am not surprised at all that the usual suspects are subtly playing down what can only be described as an act of grotesque evil motivated directly by hateful and extremist ideologies.

Make no mistake about it, those who are refusing to put far right hatred on the same level or reality as Jihadist terrorism are in a state of denial. It is as if one can be played down "just an individual" yet the other is somehow a pathology and threat we have to exclusively take seriously.

Absolutely not. This was ideologically motivated terrorism and in the past couple of years in western countries attacks of this nature have in fact been more common and more deadly than Jihadist ones.

Far right terrorism is real, it is rising and people are playing it down. Shame on them.
Not one person on this thread had subtly played down anything before you posted. Everyone was saying it was disgusting.

You've made a straw man and have argued against it in one post. Well done.

Just a new generation with new horrors marra, the next generation will have their own horrors...! It's a repeating cycle!

It's only scary if you bring your daughter up to believe that it's acceptable. What you should/will do is... bring her up to be a decent law abiding human who deplores such horrors. Whilst having such a good morale code, she can then pass this upbringing onto her own children and on it will go!

That I shall do!
