So can we catch Barnsley?

People letting their hearts rule their heads.

From all I've seen this season we are the third best team in the division. Tuesday re-enforced that opinion. If we were playing well, I would say we were capable of going on a winning run between now & the end of the season, but unless Ross changes his tactics and actually sets us up to go at teams, I can't see that happening.

Can’t wait for the play offs me. Keep the drama all the way through for the sake of the Netflix show.

Why aye man!

This ^^^^^^^.
Win game in hand, only one point in it then. Remember, as the season comes to a close there are always weird surprising results. Lower teams beating top teams. Teams mid table, teams teams already relegated or promoted. Teams wanting to finish in a specific position in the play offs.
Cannot take easy or difficult fixtures for granted.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

Where will they drop points?

Three biggest chances to me are their visits to Doncaster, Plymouth and Bristol Rovers. Their home games all look eminently winnable though I think there'll be a slip in one of them somewhere.

The thing is can we take advantage? In truth, I see nothing to suggest we can. I'd expect to win more than we don't and I'd only expect 1 defeat at the most. But we coast through large parts of games, often giving ourselves about 20 minutes to win it. Barnsley are in your face all the time, we don't do that.

The draws unfortunately look set to cost us. I cannot see us winning enough to overhaul Barnsley unless they implode and that looks unlikely.

It's been a better season than I expected but I suspect we are heading for the play-offs.

I hope I'm wrong.
No. Ross preferes plodders in the midfield.

Of course we can catch them. 10 games to go for us, 9 for Luton and Barnsley. Heck, even Luton may have a stumble under the pressure and lose some games yet and get drawn back into a 3 way battle. It's all speculation and conjecture at the moment, as nobody knows how these remaining games will turn out for any of us. sure we can all make predictions, but right now it is impossible to know for sure. Maybe after the next couple of games have played out things will become a lot clearer, but at the same time, they could also get a lot murkier.

The one thing we know pretty much for certain at this point, is that Luton are all but guarenteed at least a play off place already and look pretty comfortable at the top. Barnsley are looking over their shoulders at Sunderland, but otherwise are also pretty close to securing at least a play off place, while Sunderland, unless we have a major brain fart over the next 10 games, are also looking pretty good for a play off place... But it is all still to play for and 2nd place is still achieveable for both Barnsley and Sunderland and arguably Portsmouth and Charlton too, with Doncaster, Peterborough, Blackpool and Coventry all poised for that last play off spot...

I wonder what the 'we have no chance of automatic' brigade think we should do ...

... give up, rest players and get everyone fit for the play offs?

Perhaps they think we should be doing extra penalty practice

Spot on fella. Negativity on here is unreal.

And I wonder if their view will suddenly swing 180 should Barnsley get beat and we win Saturday?

I asked that question and was told, point blank, that it won't happen.

I've absolutely no idea how people can get through a day without calling the Samaritans

We haven't beat Walsall yet and haven't yet this season, we have to win on Saturday.

I think we have the perfect chance to beat Walsall.

It's no longer a novelty 'playing the big boys' or coming out at the SOL and they're stuck in middle table which is where they'll finish.

If Doncaster beat Barnsley, which I believe will happen, the atmosphere on Saturday should be good.

Grigg will score if we play the ball through the channels or get behind their defence .... Gooch did that at Barnsley but the cutbacks were all rushed and poor.

Hopefully we'll let Morgan start on Saturday, he gets his head up more imo.

More likely to draw our game in hand
