New Music Releases Thread

Been sat in front of Beth of Du Blonde tonight for a while. Made me remember her record.

Decent 6/10. Nothing flash, few nice tracks in there. Decided to put the debut on now and it just doesn't touch that.

Debut as Du Blonde or debut as Beth "Jeans" Houghton? Think I prefer the latter.

Surprised the feedback foals is getting in here, after a few listens honestly think it's their best since TLF. It's probably not helped by the fact the 1st 2 songs are probably the weakest on the album mind.

I don’t think it’s very cohesive as a record personally. I wonder if the second release will give it a bit more context but I just think it’s a bit boring.

Off to see Self Esteem tonight and then Roy Harper on Tuesday.

Agreed with everyone about Indoor Pets. Enjoyable enough but pretty forgettable in the long term. The Kokoroko EP is very good (kind of Afro-jazz). The EB the Younger album is soemwhat Midlakey, unsurprisingly, nice enough. Listening to the Royal Trux album, which I forgot about when it came out at the moment. Pretty good... a bit less raw than a lot of their earlier stuff.

Heard a couple songs of the new Low Life album, "Downer Edn" and I really like them. This one for those of you who enjoy a bit of punk. And I mean hardcore, not bubble gum, punk.

EDIT: Full album not released yet. I believe it's coming out in April.

Contniuing with what I've been lstening to today:

Stella Donnelly - nice
Jim Jones - angry
Dave - intriguing
Helado Negro - mellow

The latter reminds me of Devendra Banhardt.

That’s the song I’m on now :D

Have you heard of the group "Lilly"? They are a local (SoCal) band. All super young (still in their teens) but their debut EP (just came out) has really good energy. There's probably only one song on the EP that's not really my cup of tea "Sepulveda Basin" but the rest of the EP is rather good. Worth a listen, I think.
