Bragging about how far up the scoville scale you can tolerate isn't an issue. But if you like hot food, try Seabrooks"Fire Eaters Scorchin' Hot Trinidad Scorpion Chilli" crisps.
They are the best and hottest crisps I've had for a long time.

It doesn't hurt, it gives a pleasurable endorphin release. If I didn't enjoy hot food, I'd avod it

Here we have people that think they're cool showing off at meals buying the hottest thing thinking they're all manly and that, think it's about time you's all grew up.
 
Eat whatever you like, but my experience of people who claim to love spicy food is that they're usually blokes trying to be Billy-big-balls outdoing their mates. Bit pathetic really.

I would say that, though. I can't handle the spice.

Its got 10 green,10 red and 10 scotch bonnets. various spices.

What some people tend to forget is that herbs and spices have formed the basis of homeopathic/natural medicines for centuries.

Clearly, I'm not party to any of the ingredient lists for these but I've been a believer in the theory that a good HOT curry (the more herbs/spices used the better) can sort out a variety of ills for the past 50 years - practicing this belief has worked very well for me!
 
There's a fella at work who won't believe that you can get a 'rush' from eating spicy stuff. Or that it can speed up your metabolism. He's a proper beige fucker though. Boiled potato's and creamy chicken is risqué.

I read an article, many moons ago, which explained/claimed that chillis are members of the same plant family as coca which would explain why curry can be addictive (albeit to a lesser degree than cocaine) and some regulars say they suffer from withdrawal symptoms if they don't have their regular 'fix'.
 
I like spicy bait, but the hottest Indian I can do is a madras- any more than that and it's just heat for heat's sake and ruins the taste

The name given to a curry should reflect the flavour, not the heat.

Unfortunately, this seems to have escaped the notice of many Indian restaurants, takeaways and their customers!

Therefore, it should be possible to order a mild Vindaloo or a searing hot Korma.

I can't eat anything very spicy at all most of me mates do and there is always a competitive edge to it to see who can get the hottest thing.

Depends where you get the curry from. I’ve had madras before,that was hotter than a vindaloo, mind I like both anyway.
 
In India itself they don’t recognise many of the names we have for curries over here.

I’ve been to 4 different places in India and yet to have anything I would consider really spicy despite asking for it to be hot. One lad I worked with in Chennai (madras) took up the challenge and got his chef to make me some spicy food at home and brought it in. At lunchtime loads of people came to watch me eat it expecting me to combust. It was no more than a jalfrezi over here, but I hammed it up for him as he’d gone to the trouble

I must say though that the food in India is so delicious that is has put me off the stuff over here, which is mainly Bangladeshi, so much so that if we have an Indian take away I’ll get my grub from the Chinese*

* yes I do see the irony but haven’t been to China yet
