you said, and i quote:

I don’t believe Sunderland to be the hot bed of football that it makes out. ...... The folk of Wearside aren’t as into watching live football as others.

absolute load of f***ing rubbish. we have fantastic attendances all things considered. as do newcastle. but newcastle isn't special in any way. they benefit from different circumstances. again, newcastle isnt special, never has been, never will be. its just a football club, like ours, and like thousands of others.
He's f***ing mental man, 9 teams in the Prem have higher attendances than Sunderland this season and guess what every one comes from a city with a larger population than Sunderland.
2 teams in the Championship have higher attendances than Sunderland this season and surprise, surprise they also have a larger population than Sunderland.
But it's nowt to do with catchment areas it's just that "The folk of Wearside aren't as into watching live football as others"

Give you Cabaye as PSG are a good side but as I said don’t be giving me Mickey Mouse leagues. Also Santon and Simpson as well.

Ben Arfa barely played man. It’s like saying Jimmy Montgomery won the European cup because he sat on bench for Forest.

Same with Remy he barely played for Chelsea.

Finishing 5th in France! Haway man.

That side wasn’t exactly blessed with superstars however let’s just say it was. Who brought in those players? Does Pardew not deserve credit for that or do we ignore him and give it all to super scout whilst excusing Rafa for poor buys as he ‘didn’t have enough funds’?

Ben Arfa played 41 times in Marseille's 2010 title winning season.

he just wants any kind of confirmation that newcastle are 'specialer' than sunderland

i imagine it does. you have to take factor in that the north east is predominantly football, as is merseyside and manchester, but a lot of the country has rugby and cricket to contend with. even still, london has 8.1 million people, with 11 proffesional teams. so thats less than 800k each. its already been shown that newcaslte has 1.3 million to chose from

the north west of england has 8 million people and 12 professional clubs, plus stacks of rugby towns

the attendances at newcastle are great, for what is on offer on the field, i don't think anyone could doubt that. but sunderland averaging 30k this season, given what has gone on in the last 5 years, the league we are in, and the small(ish) catchment area is a better achievement, in my opinion

you look at the north west, the combined average attendance in that area must be 300-400k

The Lomdon one is interesting, IIRC most London teams mtvh goers don't live in Greater London so won't be included in the8.1 million

there will be loads of factors influencing the london attendances that don't apply to, say, the likes Newcastle and Sunderland.

Transport links into london from the surrounding counties (10x better than trying to get from say Spennymoor to Sunderland)
Tourists (percentage of them at london games will be massive compared to ours)
Demographic (London will have a much higher percentage of immigrants/foreigners who either don't like football or are fans of clubs back home)
Cost (obviously more expensive in London)
Other Entertainment (10x more other things to do)

so taking into account all of the above, the fact arsenal, chelsea, spurs, west ham all average 40-60k deserves recognition, if newcastle do for pulling in 50k

Ben Arfa never won the league with PSG, he won it 5 times with Lyon and Marseille.
Debuchy and Cabaye (captain) were in the same team at Lille that won the double.

You asked for players who'd finished top 5 before or after from that side that weren't mickey mouse leagues. Then disregard certain ones when given.

Simpson winning the premier league counts in that. Santon has 2 Serie A and a champions league medal from before he was at Newcastle, then went back to Inter. Now at Roma.
Mapou Yanga MBiwa was another title winner in France with Montpellier before joining Newcastle, playing alongside Remi Cabella. Mbiwa then went to Roma where they finished 2nd in the league in his first season.

Players at clubs finishing top 5 before or since being part of the Newcastle team under Pardew remember. Trying to say the squad Pardew had was similar in quality to Benitez. Because you didn't think any of them had done much in the game. Blown your own argument really.

Danny f***ing Simpson, Premier League winner. f***ing hell man

Can't recall Scotch teams going deep in the Champions League in the last few seasons.

Not surprising that he's discriminating against forrin leagues though.

How is my argument blown?

The French league isn’t comparable to the big leagues, I made this clear in my first post on the subject.

That side that Pardew had overachieved by finishing 5th. Credit should be given for that but never is.

Before you start stamping your feet no goalposts are being moved, the French league is piss poor in comparison to the premier, la liga, bundeskiga and serie A.

Santon a champs league winner and seria A winner! He barely f***ing played!

Yeah PSG are a good side, the rest aren’t and it isn’t an elite league.

There are 4 elite leagues and very few of the team Pardew had either before or since have done a great deal better than 5th in an elite league.

Then again you tried to compare Ross job with Bruce earlier which shows that logic perhaps isn’t your strongest suit.

Monaco were a decent side until they were pulled apart, Lyon were also decent around the turn of the decade.

Not doubting that those 4 leagues are the best but it's convenient that you're pulling apart players because due to their nationality start off in their domestic league. These aren't superstars or else they wouldn't have signed for Newcastle United, that is absolutely true.

No surprise you've missed the point about Ross/Bruce even though I pointed it out to you in the very next sentence. Too busy calling people for eating cereal or something on a National Front messageboard, I imagine.

Lyon just drew 0-0 with Barcelona last night so can't be that bad. Harsh on some French teams imo

So you agree that the French league isn’t comparable which was my point.

Good lad.

My mug is on my left. Fail.

I do like it though, might steal it for my avatar. Do it without my fatha in the background though.
