They really are the gift that keeps on giving. I believe that Keegan did us all the biggest favour.

He raised the bar of their expectation above all common sense yet actually achieved the sum total of f*ck all. Nothing they've done since has made them happy. They twisted at Dalglish, at Robson, at Pardew, even Chris Hughton, because they are really only at peace when they're whining about something.... "ya div'nt understand, etc. etc"

Keegan and Hall sold them so much hysteria & hyperbole that they still think that one day they'll be European Champions whilst steamrollering all before them in the style of the 'entatainaz'. Nobody - Shearer, Ashley, Benitez, etc - stands a chance against their delusions and daydreams. I find them hilarious.

Dont forget Souness and Gullit

A madhouse of rotund cuunts....
I'm not eloquent

An inflammation of magpies

If the Newcastle manager is liked by the Newcastle fans (Keegan/Robson/Benitez), he's shit and if he's disliked (Pardew/Allardyce/Kinnear), he's mint. Same with Newcastle players. Can't think why  That's fine, but when the manager got promoted as champions, then took a poor side to 10th in the league and has a trophied history, don't you feel a little silly criticising him as much as you do?

It's just Newton's law.

Somebody has to provide an equal and opposite reaction to your lot going way over the top about him

Hmm, but we hated Shearer as a player and loved him as a manager...

Also, all credit for taking his poor side to 10th, but as far as I know his trophied history wasn't even a little bit at Newcastle. His criticism is probably more based on relegating you, being 2 points from relegation now and out of both cups, again.

That and their hatred of a managers who have done better for them than Benitez.

I think you're hugely over estimating the quality in key areas of our squad. How many of our players would get in the Leicester first team, or Everton, West Ham or Palace? Wolves or Watford? The reason you're over-estimating their quality is to denigrate Benitez' ability. Were Pardew in charge of this squad we'd be doing worse, were Benitez to have the kind of squad Pardew enjoyed for much of his reign, he'd have done better than Smarmy Al.

What utter drivel. You criticise the quality of the squad that Rafa bought, yet praise him for it. You then praise the previous manager’s squads , yet criticise them for working under exactly the same conditions.

Teams with worse squads have finished the season on 44 points or more, but never claimed it to be miraculous. You have a squad full of Premiership experience, international players, and players like Shelvey and Lascelles who your lot were claiming should have been representing England at the World Cup, surely they can’t be that bad if you really think that. Then again, your lot were crying out for Jack Colback to be in the England squad when you signed him, so I suppose we have to take into account the football wisdom of your average mag.

When most people look at your squad, they probably think it’s not great, but more than good enough to stay up mainly due to other squads being worse and that you should easily achieve 40 points. The only reason you really struggle under Rafa the Great is that you play not to get beat rather than play to win.

Last sentence in that is the key one, yet he gets no stick for it because he won something years ago at another club.

If Cardiff win, it keeps Southampton below Newcastle barring a 4-0 defeat at Wolves.
That's also if Burnley were to win or draw at Brighton.
The next week Burnley host Tottenham, Cardiff host Watford and Southampton travel to Arsenal.
Newcastle are at home to Huddersfield.

Law of averages states Huddersfield have to get a result sooner or later. Their visit to SJP won't exactly fill them with fear given how you tend to approach games

Benitez would have got you higher than 5th ? ...really ? !!

why dont you swap that around? how many players from any one team (ie palace, brighton, southampton, burnley as they are around you) in the bottom half would you take to improve your first team?
off the top of my head
Palace- Zaha, Batshuayi, Townsend, Sakho, Wan Bissaka, Milivojevic (sp?)
Southampton- Redmond, Lemina, Ward Prowse, Vestergaard
Burnley - Heaton, Tarkowski, Gudmundson
Brighton - Murray, Dunk, Duffy

Those in bold are clear improvements, the others are arguable. Now in fairness, how many of our team would those teams take? Centre backs, possibly, and maybe the 'keeper and Rondon?

The keeper? Like seriously?

Was that Pardew's sole league finish?

So, you love Shearer because he was in charge at the time of a relegation, but hate Benitez because...
