Starting to catch up with stuff but getting distracted... for what it's worth...

Grand Veymont by Grand Veymont - Stereolab fan? Listen to this, it's bloody magnificent. They're French...
Surrender by Bendik Giske - aggressive gay jazz from what I can tell (it's jazz and aggressive and their website mentions queer a lot). Scandinavian and/or German. Lots of sax...
Un "Sung Stories" by Phil Alvin - not new as it was recorded in 1983 but this is the vocalist from The Blasters (big with Uncut writers type band) doing a covers album as his solo debut. It's very, very good!
I’m liking ‘agressive, gay jazz’ as a genre!

Grand Veymont is good, thanks.

Wasn’t on Spotify (albeit I had had a bottle of red) so trusted you with £2.99 of my hard earned cash on iTunes

Good shout

Continuing my catch up with new stuff from the last week or two, I have primarily been listening to 3 albums today, along with catching up with TV of different amounts of decentness... they are by:

Tiny Ruins: this is good. Kiwis doing subtle, lush indiepop. Essentially, they're kind of a vehicle for Bristol born singer/songwriter Hollie Fullbrook.
Unloved: A band with David Holmes involved will always be decent. This is more than decent. The sound is a combo of 60s girl band and Twin Peaks' Roadhouse. They lose a mark for having a member called Keefus Ciancia but gain one back for being on Heavenly Recordings, who know their tunes.
Rat Boy: I, @Arkle do solemnly swear that in terms of both enjoyability and listenagainness, there aren't going to be many albums better than this in 2019. First album was a bit Jamie T clone Skaterboi. This kind of continues that to a degree but, well, it's ace...

Looking forward to Mouldy Bob in particular. Reviews suggesting it's his best in a long, long time.
I think Silver Age was the best thing he'd done since Copper Blue, but thinking back I guess that's 5-6 years old at this point. Time flies... I've liked the singles, all very Bob, so it should be a good one. Off to see him as an old school power trio in a few weeks - looking forward to that, as that's really when he sounds at his best, but the last couple of goes around he's been solo

This was a new one on me. Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers (no idea who she is. A quick google makes me think I might like her - indie-pop/indie-rock/folk-rock musician in Ryan Adams’ label) released a collaboration album overnight. I’ve got it downloaded to listen to today
Just given this a listen. Thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed it - very pretty in places and comfortingly nostalgic in others. Good listen!

This Deerhunter record is good isn't it. Lovely old listen.

I thought they were shit as well based on Monomania.

I don't dislike it, but I was a bit disappointed - I'd heard their live versions of some of the new songs, and was really looking forward to the album, but it loses some of the energy and, I dunno, oomph that the live version of What Happens To People or No One's Sleeping had.

I'm hoping to pick up a cheap ticket for that one depending on plans. Give No No No a listen, it's their most accessible record.

Bloody love Rip Tide though, a beauty.

Got this new one on again. It's a luscious album, a lot of layers in there. It's Beirut but with a bit more depth musically.

I’d not heard of Beirut, had them on over the weekend, great stuff. The riptide track (and album) is the standout for me up to now. Thanks for the tip.
