a lot of your fans do

So, some supporters believe he's only 'doing a good job in difficult circumstances' ....

.... Benitez, himself, believes he was responsible for a miracle last season and could manage another this season

I will always find something to laugh about at that lot.

I'll laugh at them were we to be in the National League and they won the World Cup , The Ashes and the Chelsea Flower Show in the same year.

They are richly comical and are usually unaware of it. That is the main purpose of threads on here about them . To laugh at them.

Probably the only reason ....

... it's certainly not to attempt to attempt to prove we have more supporters, are better than them or aren't two divisions apart.

He's doing nothing different to the likes of dyche and warnock in fact I thing the mags have a better squad than Cardiff, Burnley.
Yet the way benitez some pundits and the majority of fans go on you would think he had a squad full of 1 legged league 2 plodders to chose from

We like to pretend they are but, in reality, all but a couple of that team yesterday would find another PL team.

"Every penny the club generates"

But surely that means every penny the club generates, in profits?

CBA to check but at the last set of accounts wasn't that something like minus 15m? So in keeping with his statement Ashley should have sold a player for that much in order to make ends meet. Although the way that money has been wasted on transfers in the last couple of years that would probably have to be three, maybe four players.

Or would you rather he actually did give Benitez every penny the club generated to spunk on a load of shite?

I don't think it's guaranteed that were Ashley actually to back Benitez with the money that the club generates through tv money, prize money, transfer deals, Benitez would necessarily "spunk it on a load of shite".

His career record and in particular his most recent purchases, would suggest that if not all of it, at least a large part of it would be spunked shitewards.

Anyway, about the rest of my post.......

What they seem to miss is that perhaps top class players aren't signed because they don't actually want to go to Newcastle or play Benitez's claustrophobic style of football.

I know money was involved when Keegan was there but it must have been a pleasure to be able to play expansive attacking football.

When Benitez is at top clubs the supporters and players can forgive the dreariness because the trophies compensate.

When there's little chance of achieving anything more than top half finishes, and little interest in the cups, there's little point in being there.

There's probably an element of that, and location too, and supposed 'atmosphere' - footballers are unique to a y other professionals as they actually talk to each other about their employers, fancy that

But I'd still like to know about this spending every penny generated lark.

Do any mags actually think he meant literally? And if not, don't they realise if you make a loss, there's nothing in the pot to spend? As said in earlier posts I don't really follow Newcastle's finances etc particularly closely so I'm happy to be corrected. But it's got to a point where im sick of them bleating on about how unfair it all is and I think maybe I should clarify my understanding of how this is so, in order to show some solidarity for the sorry plight of my north east footballing brethren.

They'r'e absolutely clueless mate, if they don't have the facts they just make some up that suit their argument.

Only the deluded, gravy stain daubed, horse-punching, shop-shouting, colour impaired, carpet & curtain fitting, broon guzzling, 63 year major competitive trophyless, Robson spitting, awab man loving, SAFC obsessed, meccano living, 'Geordie Nation' could witter about lack of investment by their blank cheque writing owner days after they smash the club record transfer fee.

Must admit, I know little of the financial situation at Newcastle, so perhaps you could clear a few things up for me.

If Ashley isn’t giving Rafa millions to spend and Newcastle are making millions, where is all the money being hidden?

If you really are raking in the cash, why is the level of debt increasing?

I’m assuming that Newcastle do submit a set of accounts which shows where the money is spent and every penny is accounted for, or are you one of these mags who believes that Ashley is simply taking money out of the club to buy shops for you lot to shout at.

Well your manager seems to think so he keeps saying it every other week. The players confidence must be shot to bits, there's the likes of Murphy who benitez splashed 14 million on barely played him then loaned him out

Thisnis what they don't appear to grasp. £14m for him yet Watford got Deulofeu for £10m and Bournemouth Brooks (who sometimes plays wide midfield) for £11m.

They still come out and say he's not given the money to sign decent players. He paid £5m for Manquillo for fucks sake.

In this opinion, are we allowed to bear the bigger picture in mind?

Does he say it every other week? Murphy is a disappointment, no doubt. Good job we've had other players like Fernandez, Schar, Dubravka, Ki, Ritchie, Gayle, Lejeune, Rondon and so on.

Could it also be that top class players can't be bought for buttons?

No Newcastle fans I know think he meant anything with that public statement. Just another lie.

Dunno where the money is going, I know that NUFC have regularly delayed submitting their accounts.

Could be that he's repaying himself the money the club owes him. Could be creative accounting?

The money he uses to expand his high street empire is his own business, he can do what he likes with it. Just like he can do what he likes with Newcastle, I suppose. Doesn't mean Newcastle fans have to like it or meekly accept it. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be held to account for the lies he tells.
