If Ashley had sold the advertising space, he could have used the money to pay himself the interest he should have received on the loans he made to keep the club afloat. He could also also have paid himself a wage and a dividend like Shepherd and Hall used to do. This would all have been above board. And cost the club a lot more than the benefit he received from this so called free advertising, but that’s Mike, always putting the club first.

He’s only asking for £150m for the club and for whoever buys it to also pay him back the £150m loan that the club owes him, yet despite being one of the worlds biggest clubs in some people eyes, no one is really interested at that price. What Ashley should do is repay all the loans he is due and then he can sell the club for £150m.

It would be interesting to see if he can attract a buyer (with the the actual cash) at that price , but even better to see the meltdown up the road as he starts to use the tv money to repay the debt.
The real culprits in this are Hall and Sepherd and they have got away scot free. They built the club on sand with bank loans and inflated the jordi ego so they have their delusions of grandier way higher than what it should be. If Ashley had done his homework he wouldnt have touched them with a barge pole and they would have been in administration. They have a lot to thank him for but they are stupid.

After backing the manager, which was what the protests were all about, will they sing their favourite Ashley song if they go a goal down today?

Serious question to Mags and anyone else .....

Imagine thinking spending what is considered an average fee for a player rubs out all of the red in Ashley's ledger.

Maybe he should buy us all a curry as well

That's a yes btw (well it's a 'they should' as I'm not Nostradamus).

Why is the transfer record such as massive thing with some of your lot? A massive fee doesn't guarantee a decent player.

I couldn't tell you who our record signing is

Ask them. I don't speak for anyone else.

I completely agree with your second statement fwiw.

It's crackers, Sky have just had a piece on how long it was between the Owen and Almiron transfers. Never ever seen it mentioned for any other club.

I'm interpreting it's being used as an easy indicator for the lack of investment in the playing squad. It's a soundbite in my mind.
