Will Grigg's on fire, signed!

£2m for Will Grigg or £2m for Kieffer Moore (asking price according to Keith Downie via sources at Barnsley). I know which one is go for - for a variety of reasons - and it isn’t Grigg.

I was really hoping that Grigg would happen but the fact that James Vaughan is having a medical at Portsmouth might really put it in doubt. Think they have four first team strikers, Clarke in makes five do depends if they want to go down to three and take the money.

Also think a lot of it will depend on it Grigg himself wants to come. If the club have an inkling that they may have an unhappy player they may well cash in.

They'll know Grigg wants to come, that's how it works - they don't make 5/6 bids before sounding out if he's actually interested man.

He claims we offered £200k - ridiculous if we’re offering close to £2M for a League One striker.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous.

If you look at some of the summer signings, we brought players in for well below their ‘value’ and a couple of players were released from their contracts. That’s good negotiating. As long as we get our targets signed, I’ve no issue at all with us trying to get a good deal. That said, placing 5 bids for a player does seem a little laboured (unless this is normal and we don’t normally hear about it?)

I just think £2M for Grigg is well over the odds and would prefer we tried to get someone like Moore for that kind of money.

To offer 10 times less is stupid like. If you had your car for sale at 2000 and someone offers 1500 you'd tell them to do one.

If your car isn't for sale and someone offers 2000 you'll still likely say no. If they offer 200 you'd give them a clip

Donald said that was rubbish. Nixon’s a gobshite, why are people believing what he says re the fee then or now?

Other reports (via sources at Barnsley) say that they value Moore at £4m.

I’m not - that’s just the inference. Was something yesterday evening that Wigan were holding out for closer to £2M.

£2m for a League 1 standard striker is far too much, in my opinion. If we're being held to ransom to that extent, I think it's time to pull our horns in, hey a couple of decent loans in & do the best we can with what we've got. Wyke still has plenty time to prove his worth & Surridge (if it's him as one loan) looks pretty good to me. As a wild card option, I don't think it's too insane to consider trying O'Nien playing off Wyke. He's got bags of energy, gets stuck in, has a bit skill & pace & an eye for goal. If we pay £2m for a League 1 striker, we tell everyone the same old piss take party is still in full swing.
