He was sentenced to 5 and a half years, I wasnt aware of exactly how early he was released......He still spent over 2 years of his life in jail when he was innocent.

IIRC Ian Porterfield had 2 or 3 wives, half a dozen kids and the odd affair ...

... but people weren't so sanctimonious and self righteous in those days.

Well, let’s just say I wouldn’t mind us putting in place a rule where we don’t sign players who have lied their way into hotel rooms, had sex with very intoxicated lasses without speaking to them, had their brother attempt to film it, then leg it out of a fire exit. Ideally, I’d like those players not to have been convicted for that at some stage and then acquitted following a very well funded private investigator campaign in which some fairly sketchy things were done.

I think I’d like us to steer clear of those types of players where possible. Ya know, just to maintain a slightly well orientated moral compass

Some good old ‘whataboutery’.

I’ll be honest, when we signed him on loan I was blissfully ignorant about it. To this day, I’m still not sure what happened in that case, which is laziness as I haven’t read much on it. But no, if what he did was comparable, then I wouldn’t have been happy.

You think half the footballers in the country havent done stuff like this? We had half a dozen of them film themselves gang banging a 16 year old lass.....Half the blokes in the City then passed the video round, no doubt many of them fans of the club.......Your moral outrage is laughable to be honest, young lads and lasses get pissed and shag each other all the time, it might offend you but as long as its not criminal then its just young lads and lasses shagging each other. That lass at 16 was barely legal when they did this. Don't remember our fans all saying they should be sacked or never play for the club again.

Plenty of our fans wanted them out actually. I remember it well. I was one of them.

I’m the one who is laughable for thinking a lad is morally abhorrent for shagging a pissed up lass without speaking to her at any point (after his mate has already done his bit), then legging it out of a fire exit whilst his brother was watching and trying to film him. Whilst he had a lass at home.

According to the trial she was asked if he could join in and said he could. Its not about being Lad enough, its just what young uns do and have done for many years......University halls of residence are some of the worse, every fucker where I was seemed to have shagged everyone else and most of these things happened when they were pissed up after nights out.
