As I said we will have other options, we havnt announced it, they did. They have mocked us? wow, let him f***ing stay there, gone are the days when we pay over the odds.

Still not sure what you want our owners to do

What are your suggestions?

Aye their manager was taking the piss the other day because we just keep coming back with higher bids every time they reject them and he knows we will be back again.

Sack Grigg off and move on to another target. Like you say the days are gone when we pay over the odds which is what Wigan want us to do and seemingly feel confident we will.

That was my suggestion. I think I’ve said it 4/5 times now?

I’d be happy with a decent loan in tbh rather than buying another player that needs replacing in the summer.

Methven said losses were likely to be “at least £10-12m, excluding exceptional items.” Those exceptional items would include, amongst other things, the further liability that may arise from the ongoing Ricky Alvarez court case.

Reports have proliferated that the club expects to reduce its operating losses to £5m this season, but he pointed out that is instead the ‘annualised’ loss position they expect to find themselves in at the end of this season. In layman’s terms, they expect to get monthly operating losses (i.e. before player trading) down to around £400k, which will then translate to an annual loss of £5m.

When will people finally take the hint that we aren’t going to be splashing millions of pounds we don’t have on players we can’t afford?

But The Rat said Short paid off all the debt and Stewart Donald practically got the club for free...

So you dont think we have bids in for other players? f***ing hell man, give your head a shake, and let their manager keep giving it large (and you loving it)

Still very surprised that Oviedo has not been moved on. Was it club Brugge that was in for him at the start of the season? Doesn't even get much game time and is on a big salary.
He not leaving the ££££ on the table. It’s going to cost us to move him or to you use him to help us get promoted...

I’ve no idea what you are talking about to be honest. Where did I say we didn’t have other bids in? I said just fuck Grigg off and move on. It’s the same thing isn’t it? Or are you just trying to manufacture something to get upset about?

Their manager, given his experience with us already, is confident we will keep increasing our offers and has gone public with it. We both agree we don’t want us to pay over the odds so we should sack Grigg off. I don’t know what your problem in tbh. Outraged for the sake of being outraged.

Not really, just cant figure out your "Outrage" your word not mine

We have bid for him, we obviously want him, we went in low

Their manager makes it public

We have no idea of the price involved, it may be very low

We will have other targets

But I am outraged? :)

Keep the agenda bike going marra

This is a most unusual argument between the two of you. You’re saying the same things and in complete agreement but are still falling out. I don’t get it.

Ask him, he seems to think we are concentrating on Grigg alone, and done something wrong with low offers

I heard somewhere that there are only 3 clubs in England that are turning a profit, one of them is Scunthorpe? If this is true then what was their point in buying us is they aren't putting their own money in the club?

So what do we do when we don't have the 'piss taken out of us' and on the last day Wigan stand firm and tell us to fuck off?

You’ve got yourself all upset about me saying we should sack off Grigg so clubs don’t think they can keep taking the piss out of us, like they have done in the past.

My ‘agenda’ (buzzword klaxon) is that I don’t want to pay over the odds on players and let other clubs take the piss, which Wigan have tried to do in public. You’ve said yourself you don’t want us to pay over the odds.

I’ve also said I’d be happy with a loan than paying over the odds on a striker. I was also one of few who would have been content with making no signings this month (as I think the squad is strong enough to get promoted). Obviously selling our only goalscorer means we do indeed need to sign someone to replace him now, but I still don’t want to pay over the odds to do it.

If you agree you want the piss taking to stop and for us not to pay over the odds on players then surely we have the same ‘agenda’.

This is why I end up writing a very long post every year when the accounts come out. Those same people will be the ones who come out with tl;dr in response. Sigh.
f***ing hell man, we're fans not accountants.

I know where you're coming from and the club has to be careful, but we support the club, not the books

I can see both sides

Haway the books:lol::lol:

I see both sides too. I just end up commenting more on the money stuff because there's an awful lot of misleading comments made. To be honest, it wasn't something I actively planned. It was more that someone had to pick up the ball after Jim (Streaker) passed away.

Maybe Wigan are going public to try and start an auction or attract other interest. I’m sure the club will have a max figure for him, but are still negotiating to get him well below that. I don’t mind seeing 10 bids if we get him for less than we wanted. Its all a game, and our owners seem quite good at it imo

I think we're all in agreement we need to strengthen, however there's a massive step up from league one to the championship. Players from a higher league would want big money to drop down ( Ledbetter the being the exception) plus championship clubs would want a good fee for one of their players especially a striker. If we buy from league one or two we are taking a huge chance as they might not make the step up.. the one thing we can't afford to do is get our pants pulled down..

Ahhh... I'm not having a go at ya.. If that's what you do for a living then fair enough.

I just want us out of this shitty league

I don’t think stating a player is not for sale and substantiating it by using 4 rejected (increased) bids is the best way to start a bidding war tbf and even if it did we would end up either having to sack it off or end up paying more than we originally would.

It seems more like they’ve gone public to play up to their fans amid intense speculation around a player their fans like.

Will Grigg isn’t the be all or end all. Just move on to someone else. Ideally a loan if we can get a good one. We don’t need to spend millions now.

Isn’t Boro still paying most of Leadbitter’s wages if he comes? Agree with all of that.
