Khazari payment coming up in July, so they are hardly going to give us the full fee when we owe them a fee to be paid in a few months.
Well that depends who we get in to replace him now. If not adding it to the transfer kitty now to pay off an already covered debt in the summer and we don't get promoted then it looks a bad decision. If we do that and get promoted it's a good decision.

It can only be dampening expectations that we would spend money on Grigg and then spend the Maja money on someone else

Thats all it can be really like.

fuck knows, what happened to the 8 million we sold him for?
They were hoping we'd have forgotten about it, probably

Would the club even have an option to demand the fee now? I guess they could but it might have killed the deal. £1.5m upfront with addons is way better than the few hundred k we’d have got if he just signed a pre contract with them and sulked for the rest of the season. Club were in a position of weakness negotiation wise.

Or short didn’t clear the full debt and used some of those fees? It always felt a bit iffy the way it was put forward.

The debt was cleared, otherwise SBC wouldn't have released the charges. However, Short didn't pay off the £21m still owing on transfer fees incurred under his ownership (which are classed as trade creditors, not debt). It's these amounts that the parachute payments have had to be used to cover.

One more thing I think people miss, they owners get a lot of praise for sorting out the finances paying off debts here, you have to remember all this money to do so is coming from selling players bought and developed by Short, they were already here

Its a fair enough tactic like, but Short is as equally to thank based on that logic, 8 million in for Khazri didn't appear from thin air did it

but we sold khazri at a loss so how does short deserve credit?

Is that what the parachute payments have been used for? I thought the owners said they were covering the legacy deals. I am not sure I have actually seen them definitively say where the parachute payments have gone.

Seeing as Parachute payments were used for legacy; What about the money we've brought in for McNair, Lens, Borini, Khazri, Asoro, McManaman then if we are still in the position where we have to give Maja to Bordeaux to cover ourselves there for the summer?
