5 times the rent for a similar sized unit a few hundred yards away.


May as well be on a different planet from a retailers pov , it’s like comparing apples and pears man.

Remember these rents are calculated by surveyors, helped by what other units are rented for , so you can really only pay the market rate.

Would anyone or any business sign a lease at “ extortionate “ rate ? , doesn’t really happen , certainly not in Sunderland.

Peacocks obviously thought so, hence the reason they moved a few hundred yards.

Clearly, be interesting to see which other retailers have done the same , I would politely suggest they are the exception not the rule.

I’d also be very interested if they reopen in Blandford St. as and when .
 
They've just moved out of one like, I'm guessing cos they didn't want to pay the extortionate rents.

They were located just outside of the Bridges. The company went into admin & loads of shops closed including the Sunderland one. They then opened up in Blanford st about 5 years after the previous one shut.
