In 2010 we got £3.25 million for Waghorn with barely a goal to his name at any level,
Well that's not true. He signed permanently for Leicester aged 20, having been on loan there for a year and scored 13 goals in the Championship as a 19 year old. He was also at a PL club, and had about 2 years left on his contract. At the same age as Waghorn signed for Leicester, Josh Maja has scored 1 goal above League 1 level, and has 6 months left on his contract at a League 1 club.

From what I’ve seen most fans blame Maja for wanting away which in fairness is like 70% of the problem. Other 30% being the old regime being shite IMO.

Money will allow us a good replacement. I’m pretty sure we have the money to get at least one good striker. So as you say, not replacing him will be unforgivable

It's hard to blame him entirely I agree. While I might think it's a smart move to stay here, keep progressing at a club that knows you well, and look to find a big move down the line....its a short career and even shorter if you get injured badly.

It's a chance for a big signing on fee, the first of his career, and there were rumours clubs were offering sweeteners to his family too.

He's done the business when playing. He's going. We need to replace him well which historically we have been poor at.

Or more cynically his agent has pushed him into it because that's the deal he gets the biggest cut from.
I would put money on that this is what has happened here. I could have accepted him going to Germany as there is history of young British players getting a chance to shine out there, but this reeks of a “what’s best for the agent”

For the past three months, our future has relied on a 'keeper saving almost everything and Maja scoring almost everything. We're in a really bad place, now.

Well we've still got the keeper, so if we sign a goal scorer we are sorted?

Hardly a "really bad place".

Like I said earlier in the thread as soon as he the whispers started from his agent that he wanted to move we should have sold him ASAP.

We have to get out of the culture which stems from years ago that the players are doing us a favour by playing for us.

We need a squad full of players that want to play for us.

Tricky one though, yes in an ideal world we want a squad full of players that want to play for us but it doesn't really work out in reality. Wyke wants to play for us, but would we want a squad full of players like him (hopefully we find he's just been short of fitness etc and improves but you see my point).

The trouble is, every club wants players who are better than their current level, we ideally want players who could do a job in the championship for example. On the flip side though, as soon as you have a player who is capable of performing at a higher level, they will be considering their next move and thinking of how much more money they could be earning in what is a short career.

Saying we want players who want to be here isn't quite the full story since we don't want average league one players who really want to be here. What we really mean is that we want quality players who really want to be here and would turn down more money in better leagues to stay here and, unfortunately, those players largely don't exist

Well we've still got the keeper, so if we sign a goal scorer we are sorted?

Hardly a "really bad place".
It's unlikely we're going to find someone with the conversion rate of Maja. If we sign someone like Eaves, or Marquis, or Moore, unless we suddenly start creating two or three times as many chances, we're going to be screwed.

Maja... 15 goals from 33 attempts.
Moore... 13 goals from 61 attempts.
Eaves... 14 goals from 57 attempts.

Talk Sport reckon he refused to play last night, obviously no idea if it’s true or not.

In fairness this move was obviously a long way down the pipeline. Not sure why he'd play when he's set to go elsewhere. Would be stupid, especially if he got injured

He also went off with a calf injury at Scunthorpe

Does the Don not give them some info?

Thought he was just pals with Jim white

I’m glad he’s going to be honest, less of these types the better, and by that I mean arseholes. Looks a right miserable Kernt anyways

It's a massive blow for the club. What message does it send to the rest of the players anarl. The players will know he's been our best player this season & we seen their reactions on STID when they sent Grabban back.

We are more bothered about pennies than promotion, club put this stupid deadline on its it's came back to work agaisnt us. Joke of a situation.

Idiot, we offered what his agent wanted, and they still said no.

Fuck him
