But Ross would look pretty stupid saying he wants a certain player and (depending on his injury) then doesn’t get him. Seems strange why all of a sudden he now comes out with it-Cook has said we’ve bid for a while now, so why now does Ross mention it?
 
Signing Grigg would suggest we've learned nothing from the many years of wasted money under Short. A reasonable player but with no re-sale value and inability to step up. It's not easy but we need to be targeting the top young talent from L1 & L2 who have the potential. A signing in a similar mould to Lyle Taylor

Biggest issue is in January they either aren’t available or you really do pay through the roof for that kind of player. Grigg is a signing to make sure we get promoted, then sell back to Wigan when they get relegated for the same price
 
SSN saying we want a striker and 2 other players.

I'd be happy with that - 4 additions to the squad, sending Sinclair back and keeping Maja would represent decent business (depending on who the 3 players coming in are of course, but our recruitment thus far has been pretty sound)

This - Grigg would be high up on the list for a number of L1 clubs, especially those relegated from the Championship

Jack Ross admits Will Grigg is a player he wants to bring to Sunderland, but the seriousness of his ankle injury sustained on Saturday will dictate whether they return with a third bid for the Wigan striker

Of course he has resale value. He's guaranteed goals in this league. If we go up and decide we don't want him, we can sell on to a relegated team looking to fire their way back out of League One and at least make our money back. He's the League One equivalent of Lewis Grabban. Lyle Taylor is also not a 'young talent', he's older than Grigg.

Not another Wyke situation - surely we cannot sign Grigg if he is injured. We need to kick start our season now, not in a months time !.,
