£1 million plus bid?

Mid table Villa have Tammy Abrahams, £15m Kodja, £12m Hogan and even a £10m striker out on loan.

It’s a tough league looking up from L1.

And are almost certainly going to be in breach of FFP. They'll be looking at a transfer embargo, just like their bluenose neighbours.

Just been reading about Stewart Downing there, he is due a 1 year contract extension after one more appearance, hes been on the bench the last 3 games, get him in ;)

What would people think of bringing Frazier Campbell back on say an 18 month deal?

9 in 24 for Hull this season, out of contract in the summer. Only 31.

I know nothing, just noticed he was an unused sub yesterday.

Wages would probably be a big problem. The EFL have our wage bill under special review, and it's unlikely they would OK this.

I’m not advocating we follow suit mate, just pointing out that the Championship is now a mini Premier League with fairly large transfer fees.....unfortunately without the income to back it up.

It’s an entirely different challenge to the owners.

Then you look at sheff united who are near the top and havnt spent much at all and signed championship journeymen like mcgoldrick and stearman. With good management it can be done.

Having crawled over s fair number of Championship clubs' accounts last season comparing to us, I'd be profoundly unsurprised if a few went into admin in the next few years. The amounts of money some teams are throwing around is totally unsustainable.

Is he for sale, would they sell him, would he want to come here, and the jackpot question “how much”?

That 4 in 40 for Yeovil just two years ago at the age of 25 would seriously worry me tbh although I admit that complication is very good.

Fully agree. I posted well over a year ago that not a single Championship club turned a profit and those exiting L1 into the Championship also made heavy losses.

It poses the question of what exactly are we looking to do as a football club. I’m totally ambivalent about a return to the PL other than to reinstate parachute payments and give a large one off cash injection. I’m more than happy to enjoy Championship football but there’s the poser....how do we do it without going into debt?

The answer is obvious by the way

But maybe not palatable to fans.

Our old friend net spend :). You're right that a lot won't like it, but it will be develop and sell, then develop more and buy selectively. The Academy is going to have to get its act in gear and get a production line going. Mind you, the last few years' crop of Asoro, Maja, Embleton, Mumba, Kimpioka and others is an encouraging start.

I’m more than happy with that model tbf. We do need to take the occasional risk when a real talent emerges at lower league level imo.
