Was talking to my dad about this last night. People talk like its so easy - sign a ball playing commanding centre half, sign a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker, sign a creative central midfielder who is box to box, can tackle and score goals.

A classic on here is sign players who are ready to play in the championship.

As if it is that easy or those players are not already at a higher level.

I'm sure a rare gem does exist we can sign from lower leagues (like Jamie Vardy) but they are so rare.

Love that caveat one ‘no point in signing players who can’t play in the Championship’

I get the point, but ultimately it’s hard like you to say to unearth a Vardy type. Best you can do is build a team who can compete with teams higher.

You do that by yes good recruitment but also by a manager who can get them playing the way he wants and having something greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Sheff Utd have competed at the right end of the Championship last couple seasons. Some of their regular starters include John Fleck, John Egan, Chris Basham, Enda Stevens, George Baldock.

Two seasons ago these players were what we definitely would’ve classed as League One quality?

Why? Well they were in League One which is where we are.

I stayed there last night. Someone associated with Kimpioka was arguing about the bill this morning. Apparently the club only pay for Kimpiokas room and breakfast and not his dinner. I'm assuming he is living there at the minute.

He was in reception at about a quarter to six when I left to go to the pub.

Tin hat on. I'd sooner have Eaves. I know we scored from a couple of corners last night but for the amount of corners we get in a game we're hardly ever a threat in a league game. He would be a massive threat from set pieces, and help us immensely when we're defending corners etc. Plus he scores goals in open play.
