thats what i thiuyght tbh but Grumpy Old Man reckons teams get the poara or the TV money..not both..and we get the para..the same amount of para whtehr we go up or not..

Newcastle’s accounts definitely showed £5.5m from televised matches. I really don’t know but I guess this is additional to parachute payments. It’s not fixed, it’s variable depending on how many times you’re actually on tv and surely meant as compensation for any potential loss at the gate.

I'd take that and let Ross spend the lot.

I’d definitely take it but I suspect he’ll be tapped up with a view to a higher wage in the summer if he runs the contract down.

thats what i thought happened as well @Grumpy Old Man

Not hypothetical fact. Maja wasn’t supposed to be first choice. We did sign a forward. He was injured.

Dele Alli?
We didn’t sign another striker on top of Wyke because the manager was confident that Maja was capable...
Had he not been, not a chance we’d have only brought in an injured Wyke.

He's right to be fair, Maja does well against slow league one defenders, he won't get as much time on the ball in higher divisions. Think he will struggle tbh, he's still improving, but right now, he needs to be playing in League One to keep developing IMO

Gutted he's away as well. We never have any luck with strikers

He's got superb close control; ball at feet in the box and he's deadly. He also shows quick feet regularly outside the box particularly when crowded by other players. This is his attribute.
His movement in the box is instinctive on crosses as evidenced by the number of 'flicked' finishes we've witnessed this season.
On the other hand:
He is week, he has no pace, he barely leaves the ground when jumping, his heading is akin to an OXO cube, and his movement off the ball other than detailed above is actually really poor.

Got alot to work on at a very tender age. Could go either way for him imho.

Edit: and I wouldn't offer him another penny either.
Plenty time to address that though ;)

The point you make is that some mythical other would’ve scored 15 goals and consequently got us those points.

It wasn't. I just happen to believe you can't simply remove a player from the equation as you did and then state with any real confidence that without him our goal tally would have been X therefore our points tally would be Y and we'd be sat in ninth place. We can speculate as to how we may have fared without him is all but then we have no idea how JR would have approached the situation, we may have played a completely different style and/or formation and be sat top having scored fewer goals but with a superior defensive record.

Charlie is a pubic relations guy I can’t help but think this whole Maja situation is a plot by the club to get his price bumped up or even to get him to stay
