Maybe yeah, guess his next move will show

I just think we have approached it wrong.

There are not many earning less than that doing it in the championship

And sorry but that is exactly where we went wrong under Short, thinking, just sign another player, we will find someone better

its not that easy

Yep. I think his best move is to wait until the summer and evaluate what offers he has, where we are, and what he wants to do. If he finishes the season with 25-30 goals a prem side/promoted championship side/top 6 championship side would take him on no bother and no doubt give him a nice fat bonus as a kicker.

It’s best for us as well.

That was last year, in a struggling team, at 18 years old. What's your point?
when harry kane was a simialr age in the championship at a struggling team he di better..my point is maja is scoring lots in a team that score lots..with the best creatinbe attacking player in the division behind him..he womnt have that luz=xury at a higher level..

Hindsight’s great isn’t it?
You can look at every decision ever taken and say : ooh I wouldn’t have done that.
And then bask in the self contented glow of not having had to make any difficult decisions yet still think you’d have been right every time.
Not saying that’s your approach. Just an observation.

Thought they went on about how religious he was in the doc? Should have a priest looking after his finances not an agent ffs

He’s also scoring when the team doesn’t score lots which makes him invaluable to us.

It might not have been our final offer.

It was what he asked for, and we weren't able to "work with the agent any further" because we were told he wasn't going to sign for SAFC.

After both the agent and Maja confirmed he "was not going to sign for SAFC" the club can't control that.

They gave him what he asked for which is what you wanted. They withdrew from negotiations with SAFC.

I don’t think they have withdrawn from negotiations. Donald doesn’t seem to think so anyway. He’s still saying he thinks he will sign.

Whilst he has scored a lot, we haven’t really created a lot. This partly down to how defensive teams play against us and isolate him and any space, especially when he is played up top on his own.

He just has this knack of still finding space at the right time and knowing instinctively exactly how to finish any chance. His technique and touch is better than anyone I’ve seen in the league as well. His passing and general awareness in general is lacking imo but that will improve. I think he will go on to be a top player. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player so good at those things at this age for us ever . I can’t praise him enough for it. In fact his natural finishing ability is already better than most strikers I’ve seen for us bar obviously the usual candidates.

If the reporting is accurate and he's getting a bump to 5k a week then... I kind of think he should leave :D he's been earning less than a lot of people on this forum (about 36k a year).

As much as he is decent, he probably will struggle to get a move to a premier league or similar club in future so this is a huge moment for him and his family. He could at least double that 5k wage anywhere else, in fact I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up a millionaire because of this move.

Let's be honest, it's easier for us to say he should stick it out here because if his career went down the shitter because he got injured on 5k a week, he'd have to be extremely careful because that money would definitely run out after a few years. He's a footballer, not many of us get the chance to earn millions, and you'd better believe that when that chance comes along, you should take it.

Especially if you might be aware that it's unlikely he'll have this type of leverage ever again...

the top scorer in the divison above that isnt a loan player is billy sharp...opaying three times s league one wage should get you a plyer to get you out of the division..nbecause no other team is paying that in league one and three team have to go upo..so by definition..you can pay less than that and go uo..the next highest scorer in the championship that isnt on loan from the prem is teemu pukki of norwhich..he could easily be on less than 10k a week..

why wpould we make another offer after he accepted rthis one?
Because when you apply hindsight you’re always right and never wrong.
It’s magic.

If the Sky Sports figures quoted are accurate, he's been offered just short of £10k per week, increasing his current wage by about 7.5 times his current salary.
That would put him on, at present, about £1,300 per week, or about £65,600 per annum. Not bad for a 20 year old. The offer (again, if SSN are any way near accurate) puts him on half a million a year.
