Who are these top strikers in the champ on less than 10k though

Genuine question?
we signed max power from wigan..we arent paying him 10k a week and yet he came to us..he wouldnt be taking a pay cut..so he must have been on less than 10k there and he has over 40 championship games for them..
i doubt rotheram opay 10k a week to anyone..the averahge wage for the league is 13k or so and there are playerws earning way more so players earning way less.

is maja a ttop striker in teh championship..one goasl in eseventeen games isnt very top striker..

There is no chance he is signing for 7k, and its so embarrassing people saying its 3 times worth the average league one player etc, like that has any relevance to us in the slightest

What strikers with his potential and ability are on less than 10k?

As we're a League One club and this lad has only done anything for half a season in this league, I'd say it was very relevant.

But offering a top young talent decent wages, whatever that may be, is not bad financial management

All that will happen is he will leave, and we will be going after sub par players for peanut wages

Which is exactly what we did before.

Its about quality not quantity.

I am saying goalposts changed, you have to have a line, but don't set deadlines, maybe he realises he is worth more than 7k?

Which he clearly is

Not see what I mean?
We have offered a good player decent wages as I understand it. What we shouldn’t do is offer a load more to keep him, when quite frankly what he has been offered should be enough to get pay for and pay the ‘best’ striker in this division.

To pay a premier wage in the 3rd tier is at best a massive gamble and it worst if repeated with other players, suicide.

so the goalposts have changed since yesterday when he told the manager that has fully supported him that he was going to sign the contract in the terms he’d asked for.
Honestly you maybe need to take a step back, it’s a little disconcerting now at how angry and irrational you become.
Again just genuine advice, up to you how you take it but it’s becoming uncomfortable to watch.

Don't patronise me :lol::oops:

Genuine advice, take a step back, and actually judge things case by case instead of blindly becoming defensive about the owners

If our high ceiling is 7k for the top goalscoring teenager in europe, then its pretty low.

We’ve already got the best striker in this division imo and he’s only 20 and will get better and grow with us as we do. He’s exactly the type of player we need (in terms of not having to replace every season due to ability ceiling.

That being said, if he doesn’t want to sign for us, even when we can meet his financial demands there is nothing we can do and despite being gutted I’m not angry about it. I’ve had a feeling all week it wasn’t about money.

All I can do is hope Donald can convince him to stay like he thinks he can, or at the very least we keep him till end of season and he leaves with the glory of scoring 30 goals and getting us promoted.

Who is saying pay a premier wage? Nobody saying that mate.

But these people say that is 3x a league one player or someit, its so irrelevant, and its how you end up like Leeds and Sheff Utd who were in the division for 5 or 6 years each

I do but the crucial bit about the "goalposts changing" is when they have moved you need to realise if you can have an effect on the new situation.

IF Maja or his agent had spoken to the club before going to Sky Sports the club could have tried to renegotiate.
They didn't give the club the opportunity.
The club were offered NO chance to renegotiate. They were told via the media that Maja would NOT sign.

That's not "goalposts moving". That's "game over".

You can't attack the club for not doing an unspecified thing when they had no control over it.

There is a difference between offering him massive money irresponsibly and coming back with a 2nd offer

If he has been offered 7k, then offer him more, as he is worth it.

Every club has their ceiling and their means, but if that is the offer then it shouldn't be a final one, because we won't get anyone remotely as good for the same price.

The Sky Sports thing, who cares? I don't get why Donald got so angry and tweeted all that nonsense

Its an agent, its what they do, you have to work with them remember.

I get what you are saying, but what I am saying is that if shouldn't be our final offer

I just think the owners are in for a massive shock when they get promoted if they think that is that bad

the top scorer in the divison above that isnt a loan player is billy sharp...opaying three times s league one wage should get you a plyer to get you out of the division..nbecause no other team is paying that in league one and three team have to go upo..so by definition..you can pay less than that and go uo..the next highest scorer in the championship that isnt on loan from the prem is teemu pukki of norwhich..he could easily be on less than 10k a week..

Billy Sharp will be on a hell of a lot more than 7k mate

You are very naive if you don't think that

He's playing in league one man. It's his first full season. He has no previous seasons under his belt, yet you insinuate he's the next van nistelrooy by spouting he's the top goalscoring teenager in europe.

Have you really scoured the 3rd tier and above of every European country to prove your statement?
