having the highest wage bill in the division..running at a massive loss...and being in the promotion hunt are all ambitious things to do..

The Peter Risdale school of negotiating iirc. Was a story about him offering Seth Johnson a pretty decent wage, mistook the delighted reaction for disappointment and immediately offered 10k more.

Johnson said later Ridsdale's first offer was around twice what he'd have settled for, iirc.

This ^^^^ with 24 carat nobs on. This is OUR club, not the agents. Let them sing to our tune not the other way around. If they don't like it they can go and fuck themselves.
