If he does and does so in the next 24 hours fine, but remember we have been trying to negotiate this for over 4 months as Maja is fully aware of, it ain’t gonna happen.
I’m sure Jack will be having a conversation with him tonight, prior to team selection and I’m sure he might just mention the current situation.
It might just be whats needed now a cool headed conversation.

At the end of the day, we can't pay what a premier league club or upper championship club can pay.

If Josh's agent is "doing what is best for his client" which is probably trying to get the largest salary then realistically we aren't going to be able to keep Maja.

All of the other stuff doesn't matter. The deadline, twitter, club loyalty, being top scorer in league one. We can't compete financially with clubs above us in the football period currently.
Stop being sensible now

I heard somebody make a point on total sport of

“Why not just put a clause in his new contract to say if we don’t go up he can leave”

Wouldn’t that mean we wouldn’t even get tribunal money and that’s an even bigger risk surely?

This. His agent will attempt to get the best possible deal for his client. He would be a shit agent if he didn't.

Not if the clause said he can leave for X number of pounds.

Perhaps his agent got the hump with the club going public about the deadline. Safc backed them into a corner by going public, agent thinks ‘fuck it, I’ll show them’. A bold move by Donald, but it’s not gone very well has it?
I asked you earlier but you didn't reply. If they hadn't gone public with deadline do you think he would have signed today?

Depends how much we get for him and who is signed to replace him I guess.

he was never signing man...agent used the club to set the price for majas suitors...deadline shouldnt haver been made public but the agent and maja shpould have known about it..

Don't get es wrong. I doubt he will stay but we are league one. People need to look at that
There's loads of things could still play out with it yet though. As usual none of us know the exact details of what has been said, offered or even agreed. The best thing like you say is to chill out and see where we're at near the end of the window. I'd be surprised if we don't sign a striker in regardless of what happens with Maja.

Or so we were lead to believe. I like Stewart Donald but I think he gets ahead of himself. Only one player wanted to stay, remember? Ethan Robson and Adam Matthews

Only one senior player had explicitly told the club they were happy to stay. It's not his fault people interpreted that as every other player asked to leave.

We know cattermole, oviedo and gh wanted away if they could find clubs.

All of which is irrelevant when the agent has said “we want X” and Sunderland have said “ok, you can have X no problem”.

Are you that ignorant to the size of our wage bill and the debt levels of the last few years? We need to cut our cloth appropriately and if that means we don’t pay over the odds for players then so be it. The unfortunate side effect is we’ll lose one or two good prospect but if that’s at the expense of long term stability I can live with that.
Long term stability floating around in league 1 for years ?
Might be ok for a few clubs
Not good enough for SAFC
