League one to premier is a bit of a step up mate we dont know if he could do it in the championship.

We don’t mate. He either seems to think he is though, or his agent and prem interest is making him think he is.

Whilst it may turn out to be the wrong decision you can’t really blame him for wanting to have a go at it. It’s football. It’s shit, but it’s normal.

This is it for me. Making it public increases pressure and can/has caused chaos. We’ve got one of or biggest games tomorrow and we might now be without our most important player because the knifes are out and it’s going to be more about him than the game. Kept privately tomorrow would be no different to Blackpool which was arguably his best game.

Think Donald was a bit naive how much uproar it would cause (both making deadline public and today’s tweets) because he’s tried to protect him since. I think he will probably regret it now.
Yep poor choice to tweet about it look at the abuse the other Donald gets..

f***ing thick and unprofessional by the owner. f***ing wake up these owners are rubbish and small time.
Disagree with this entirely. SD has responded to the agent contacting Sky Sports. He has put the fans in the picture and told us how it is. Has done nothing wrong. Anyone who thinks the agent has grabbed the Bic out of the player's hand is daft as a brush. All the club have done is responded to a Sky Sports story.

He will ( or his agent will!) get the pay day they crave...so dosnt matter to them if he gets splinters rather than plaudits!

I suppose if I could do my job for loads more cash..

He will be told in no uncertain terms by his agent not to get injured. Everything, ( for Maja anyway), depends on him being fit for his next club.

He can't play now.

Not necessarily true, look at Wyke, if a club want him they will take him with a knock especially if want him for the future and need to bed him in and blood him in a higher division.

But if as has been rumoured its only the likes of Huddersfield or Cardiff then what’s the point in that?

Go to a club that gets relegated, your goal scoring dries up and you end up in the championship having taken a pay cut thanks to a likely relegation clause or stay, potentially end up in the championship anyway and receive a likely pay rise as a promotion bonus and having been the leagues top scorer the previous season.

There’s an argument all three of those, if they got relegated this season, would still be back in the prem before us tbf. He was also linked to Spurs earlier this year iirc.

It's becoming a pattern to lose our goalscorer in January.
Our chances of automatic promotion are practically gone.
Wouldn't go that far but if he goes we'll have a hard time replacing his goals with another signing. Taking a transfer fee for him now is certainly gambling with finishing as high up the table as we can.

Another way of looking at it though, he's been practically the only forward we've had for 4 month. Maybe with a bit of a run Wyke or Watmore will start putting them away.

The lad has a knack for scoring though, even if he does go I'd hope we make him see his contract out and get as much use from him as we can.

He isn't but he must have scored over 50% of our total goals ???

It's a huge loss.
I'll be gutted to lose him but there's a Doncaster striker ahead of him. A good few others who have scored 14 and just below. What I mean he's not the only player in this league that scores goals. Just got to hope we can sign someone who can get the goals.

Which is exactly why his agent if he really cared about Maja would have advised him to do another season with us possibly in the Championship to find out if he was good enough, that agents advice may well have ruined his career, many have failed trying to step up too soon.

By all accounts they most definitely did give a figure which they would accept. Then they decided not to accept their own figure, at the last minute, prompting the agent to phone sky and leak the story.

What’s happened here is that the club has cut the greedy bastards off at the knees by meeting their demands early, and giving a deadline early in the window to avoid a last minute panic contract. The club has basically prevented the argent from doing what agents do, and essentially blackmailing clubs in the last week of the window.

That doesn’t seem to be what Donald thinks though. He thinks he can change his mind. Fuck knows how long he will continue to think that, mind.

Absolutely...there’s no need for these fuckin agent games. This is League 1, apparently @10-15k in wages and a 20yr old. Come to the table honestly, tell the club what your looking for and be up front...I cannot believe there are SAFC fans out there that still stick up for this pathetic disgraceful shit!!

I don’t think anyone is sticking up for them. They are just part of the game. If SD wants to take a moral crusade on agents then that fine with me. As long as he looks after the interests of the club first and foremost.

We may need to accept we could potentially miss out on some players in the future that could win us promotion etc and bite the bullet. Patience will be needed with such a strategy. I think he needs to find the right balance, Sunderland is not Eastleigh.

Agents don’t give a fuck about players. There needs to be more rules in the game involving them.
