It could be. But make no mistake, things are different today than they were yesterday. He will have his orders from his agent to look after himself.
Possibly marra but I don't think he would want to let his teammates down, on the pitch anyway. If he does and stays it'll be a really uncomfortable 6 months for the lad until he leaves.

If he doesn’t leave in Jan, then frankly I’d let him rot for the remaining 5-6 months of his contract. He doesn’t want to be here

He doesn't I think that's perfectly clear now. Also I think it's stupid to just blame the agent when the player has the choice to make. He makes the final call not the agent. He will definitely leave this month

Not from what I've seen. He is improving and holding play up better. He'll go backwards from here.
I mean the career ending knock whilst on a very short contract could have happened at any time up to now, it's not really any different unless there's an agreement to sign for someone else.

If, as it’s being reported, that Maja told Ross he wanted to stay, but then changed his mind; I think it’s safe to say his agent has him another club.

What happens now is a pathetic game of cat and mouse where the new club either offer very little, or wait to sign him on a free. As unpopular as it may be, I’d dropped him.

It seems most likely to me that he doesn't have a specific club lind up but assumes, after another half season of goals, Maja will have lots of offers to choose from.

It makes sense from the agent perspective. It's just frustrating for us as we have found a gem and want him to stay. We should have tied this up 18 months ago.

We won’t replace him. You can’t replace goal scorers like him. We tried when Bent left and failed. We tried when Grabban left and failed and we’ll fail if we try to replace Maja. Could massively derail our season this.

Where did Maja come from then if we failed?

The agent will take the abuse, but as you say, Maja has the final decision. For the good of his career, he better hope the agent has a good club lined up because he could be in for a rough ride

So how do you explain him telling Ross he wants to sign and then the agent calling Sky to say he won't?

Seems clear to me that left to his own devices he'd sign but the agent is putting pressure on a young kid because he feels he can make more money for himself later.

Wouldn't be the first player to make a bad decision because an agent told him to.

You've been mouthing off on here for weeks that the owner wouldn't give Maja the money he wanted, it now turns out we did offer him what the agent wanted and all you've got left in your locker is to moan about a tweet. You're an absolute mentalist and should seek help.

Not true like, I've agreed with 95% of what the owners have done.

I think they have made some mistakes recently, doesn't mean I want them out ffs

But just blindly backing every decision is not the way to go forward

I think this has been badly handled, I don't understand why the put a deadline on it, and I don't understand why he tweeted all that nonsense

My view is exactly what Jack Ross's view is

Sorry if that makes me a WUM, a wind up, a mag, "mentalist", whatever you think

In reality I am just a Sunderland fan who doesn't agree with how this has been handled, don't see how that is even remotely controversial

We don't know that its a bad decision yet, he might get a good deal and good club

I'd like to know what we offered him, 7 times isn't loads when you consider what his wage could be.

We have a hot property in English football, think we have made a slight hash of it

It wouldn't like. Loads of players give their all while knowing they will leave. I recall the reception Diouff got at Bolton last game of the season when he'd run his contract down....they loved him.

As it happened he came here and was a nightmare. It's not all so easy to predict.
Diouff was a seasoned pro friend.
Maja, it seems, is a very impressionable young man. Just ask Jack Ross.

He will leave.

But players, despite being theoretically in charge of their own destinies, regularly go where and when their masters tell them. It happens all the time, and some big name players have said this about their own careers.

And the manager has said he's great to work with, committed and wants to learn. But apart from that...

This is exactly why it was a bad move from the owner to impose that week long deadline and then the response that then seemingly had to follow.

Nope. If he's not signing we look for a replacement with plenty of time to do so, not rushing about on deadline day (hopefully)

We offered him what he asked for, which is what you were moaning for the club to do. I'm not sure what else you wanted from them but now you're moving the goal posts so you can still criticize.....which is why no one takes you seriously.
