The manager just yesterday praised Maja’s commitment, work rate, desire to learn and improve in training and said he was a pleasure to work with. He’s also banged in the goals to keep us in the running.

Those aren’t the signs of a player not wanting to play for the club.
Actions speak louder than words
He either wants to sign a contract & commit to Sunderland or he doesn’t
Looks the latter

No problem with SD tweeting what he has. I’d rather it was in the public domain when a c unt of an agent acts like this.

No problem with Maja but if he’s going to allow his agent to do this, then we need to sell him now for as much as we can get.

f***ing agents. Set of bastards.

To all those saying Donald shouldn't have tweeted anything read his last one. It was the agent that contacted Sky so it was them that put it in the public domain. Donald was just clarifying our position. To those saying our offer was derisory read the tweets. We offered what he wanted. Agent obviously wants a pay day which he won't get if he stays.

Exactly right.

People on here can’t wait to jump in on something so they can say “I was right” or whatever. It rarely works well for them.

Because agents dont like being slagged off in public? It could put off other agents from working with the club in the future, if they feel like they might also get the same treatment. Agents work behind the scenes and dont announce things publically when clubs pull out of a deal etc, its about remaining professional.

This agent I imagine will think twice in future about bringing their players to you.

You have to be kidding. You think an owner or club being a bit difficult to deal with would stop them doing whatever is in their or their players best interests ? They'll put up with anything as long as the money is right.

It's what happens when you're not playing top level too. Coventry lost Maddison for buttons then he moved for 25 mill to Leicester.

Sooner we get out of their small time environment the better. We are losing a number of highly rated youngsters, both at academy level & first team level. Terrible really
man city just lost an academy player they wamnted tp keep, has happened chelasea and united recently as well

I would have kept Josh news in-house but once his agent informed Sky &they report it that he doesn't want to sign we have to repsond. He wants to sign it this agent that has said don't!!! Stay behind him and don't get up his back - we will try & change his mind.

Good to read. Hope everyone does stay off his back unlike Cattermole at Hartlepool.

@stewartdonald should ban himself from twitter until 1st of Feb

Agents are essentially anthropomorphic leeches that suck the game's lifeblood. Unlike leeches, they perform no useful function. A proficient solicitor or barrister could do better for a fraction of the price. Surprises me that many fail to twig on to this. Keane did, like. But he was an unusual individual (probably still is!).

Exactly this. If everything had gone great and Maja signed, we would expect him to put that out....so why not when it's the other way round.

Aye but if he’d signed that would at least be a temporary end to the saga and our interests would have been protected. At present, Maja is still at the club, he hasn’t left, he hasn’t been sold or transfer listed, so there’s technically nowt to announce.

Of course, this situation was created entirely by our own board by setting this one week deadline. It meant that they had to say something if there’d been no movement. It’s just been handed poorly I’m afraid.

I know it’s not popular or the done thing to criticise or question the new owners but this doesn’t look brilliant

I think somewhere along the line someone is talking pure horse shit. I don’t believe for a second he asked to sign yesterday or we would have sat him down and shoved a pen in his hand.
takes time to draw up legal contracts...they dont just have a copy of ot lting around because players deals are so complex..

Because footballers barely move off the toilet without their agent's say so
Players moving is how agents making their big money, they are always going to lean on players to move. Thick f***ing players never seem to work out that agents have fuck all interest in their careers but only lining their own pockets. After the agents little Sky News leak Maja will no doubt get dogs abuse tomorrow although Im expecting a statement from Ross that "his head isnt in the right place" so cant play.

To be honest I wouldn't play the lad now. He's made it clear via his agents instruction that he now wants to leave. So fuck him.... Put Watmore in there alongside Wyke and wish Mr Maja well while he's warming the bench at Bristol City alongside Mo Eisa.

Josh who. Sell, move on he will be forgotten after we gain promotion or remembered forever as a tw*t for f*cking up our promotion

We could just replace him in the summer. We don't have to sell him this month. The majority of players play their contracts out in lower league.
What would’ve happened if he signed a pre contract with someone like Celtic and he loses interest and he leaves for fuck all in the summer.
