It’s the nature of the flawed “survive in the PL at all costs” strategy. Personally I don’t miss it at all and I’m looking forward to getting into what I consider the best compromise which is the Championship. Some great clubs in there and I reckon we could get high 30’s average with a fair few over 40 being reasonably competitive.....and we can continue to sign proper players with the character of the likes of O’Nien and bring our academy lads through too. The PL is a busted flush for the fans of most clubs.....look at Burnley’s whinging on now.,...or Newcastle’s doing it constantly.

45,000 plus once we win checkatrade trophy fella!

Absolutely!
We didn't sign Ndong in preference to mvila did we ??
Basically, yes. We decided that spending 7m (?) on Mvila was excessive, as he only had 6 months of his contract left. Plus he was on big wages.

So instead of spending 7/8m on Mvila, who was not only proven at PL level, but already proven a useful player in our team, we decided it would be better to spend 13m on an unproven 22 year old from the bottom half of the French league, because his wages would be lower :)

This was the same summer we sold PL proven Younes Kaboul for 3m, and spent 8m replacing him with Papy Djilobodji, who was 28 and had played 6 minutes of PL football at Chelsea.

This is the same summer we appointed Moyes.

The summer of shit decisions.

No surprise when you see how disjointed the recruitment, scouting and management was. Add Moyes and its a perfect storm of hopelessness heading our way.

Bloody hell we were living in an imperfect world for a little while where the decisions were crass, and the needs of the team, supporters and area were ignored.

That was downward progression, sorry retrograde progression. We have now turned the corner, angels singing and the just getting pleasure. If we now also start getting some working funds from the dross who left.

Thank you upstairs if your in! Or listening or if you exist, for small mercies.

especially when M'villa was available, and had already played for us. I'll never understand that decision.
tbf we were gona sign for nowt his club moved the goalposts then wanted 8 mill with wages could of been anywhere near 20 mill deal his wages even on a free wada been near to half that

One name as a comparison - Luke O’Nien.

Absolutely. A lad who is absolutely owa the knot to be here and will run through brick walls to make the starting 11 on a Saturday, compared to an entitled arsehole who puts little to minimal effort in to a profession where 99.9% of the world would give an arm for the kind of wage he was getting here.

An earlier post summed it up, he had the chance to go to Turin and Lisbon but his representatives were too cash-eyed and now hes facing a relegation battle at some French non entity.

Perfect fit. Shitty little team(no offence) for a shitty little player. Look like going down to a shitty little league.
Do they have rich owners? To pay that kind of money. Surely can't be on anywhere near £10k per week.

I don’t know why anyone would touch players like Ndong or Rodwell. The way they conducted themselves over the last couple of years should be putting clubs off.

It is a way back in at the ground floor, in the hope that he will begin to shine and attract better offers. Pity we did not tie in a sell on clause to his deal, or did we?

Djilobodji might be signing for Lens (joke in there somewhere).
Will Sunderland be entitled to compensation?
