Spending Xmas on your own

I'm spending it alone, 100% out of f***ing misery.

Been a mental last few months at work which essentially took over my life; been non stop. Spending a day incommunicado, getting fadged on the bevvy and playing computer games is my plan.

Went to see the family back home (West Yorkshire) over the weekend for my dads 61st birthday; told 'em I was working Christmas Eve and the 27th/28th and that I needed to be up here for that to keep them off of my case

Phooey, dinnar about you, but this makes me sick to the stomach. About to have me very sanity severely tested over the the next 48 hours. Have to put on a smile when all you are thinking is fuck off out my house. And that is just aimed at the kids, nevermind the ones that come and stuff their face, with their passive aggressive comments. Would love to have a bit time on me todd. Not having to listen to some stupid twat saying 'that was nice but it is so easy to let meat go a little dry. Or, lovely sprouts but a bit soft for my palate' Or the best one I ever had to endure, 'have you not thought about doing something different to a traditional Christmas dinner? It's just that we eat quite a few'. Promise you that is true. Do we get sympathy? Nah. We have to give it to someone who does what they want all day. 'Ah youtube it is, shall I watch Riley or Kylie? Let's make it Riley as I'm living the f***ing life of it.'

Apart from that, love Christmas me.
No negativity here man. It's not a sympathy thread it let's see who's on their own and let's make it cheery

Right who else is? Not being misersble or out but split from the Mrs in october and my lad is only coming for a couple of hours as he wants his dinner with his nana cause there is loads of them there. Still having me Xmas dinner and nibbles for later and a shed load of ale. Can't be just me.....................can it?????

i'm single and what family I have, i'd have to travel to and then stay there for maybe a couple of days

as it stands. i'm at home this year and have got plenty of nice food in, in a warm flat and able to do as I please. I've had the "aww, you don't want to spend Christmas by yourself" to "I'd love to be able to do, what you're doing"

I saw this yesterday and i'd imagine it resonates with a lot of people

'Being around family at Christmas can be weird for your mental health. If you’ve worked hard to become the person that you are, be aware that you can easily fall back into patterns of negative behaviour that are rooted in childhood when back in your old family dynamic'

if spending this one day alone, allows you a chance to eat, relax and have some down time and contemplation, then good luck to you

all the best
