The Lake Poets

I’m sure you could have written better to sum up the message about pride and wanting to make our dads and grandads proud by carrying on

I’m sure you could dribble the ball past 3 defenders before firing an unstoppable shot past the keeper from 20 yards to have an opinion on football.

Hidden?
Lots of posters dip in and out the board you know. Most people don’t post on here daily for a decade.
Most don’t disappear for 6 months after being very vocal in trying to get people to protest, seeing that protest fall flat on its bum, then come back and immediately try to get a poster banned.
Courage of convictions I’d say.
Oh and it’s been more than a decade :)

You are completely missing the point. That song is about Sunderland, about pride in the industries we had, and pride in hopefully carrying on the legacy of our grandfathers and fathers. If you don’t get that ...

I get it, I get the message, received and understood, the song is terrible.

I didn’t post for circa 3 or 4 months before Ellis left, posted 4 times around when he left and then haven’t posted for 6 months.

The fact you think that’s because of anything to do with Ellis, SAFC or even football and not - you know - events in my life that meant I was preoccupied doing other things and not posting on here is more indicative of the limitations of your thinking than anything else.

I truly don’t know whether you are on a huge continual wind up or you genuinely hate most things about Sunderland, the team the city, the lot.

It's certainly stirring.

I'm not from Sunderland, my family are sand dancers but Sunderland decsent.:)

I'm proud of that and love the history and the people.

Most of them anyway ;)

Fook off ;)

But the song tells that message, I’m not being arsey, truly not, but how better, if you agree and understand the message, could a song get it across. It had to be depressing really. Because What happened with industry isn’t a happy story, but the pride and the hope that younger people hope their grandads and dads have in their achievements is, surely

I’ve been pretty preoccupied too, you know.
So Okay, I don’t think it’s a coincidence your little campaign fell flat on its arse, wharrever.

Smartin is a strange one doesn't seem to like anything about Sunderland. Whilst the song isn't "Yesterday" it is a catchy tune and the lad has a very good voice. Surely nobody could quibble over the lyrics unless they have an agenda.

Yeah, and you chose to post about it on here and keep posting. That’s fair enough - other people may not though. That’s all.

I like the song, heard and seen it the first time in those opening credits. For me it reminds me of my da who worked in the ship yards, also worked the turnstiles at Roker Park and took me fishing down on the pier and the river.

There’s my childhood right there. Maybe the same for loads of others on here.

Memories. Maybe others don’t have memories that the song triggers, that’s fine.

A good message doesn’t make a good song.

There is no pride in that song, no fighting spirit, you need a bit of light and dark in music, this is for want of a better word... whingey. It’s defeatist and melancholy... generally people of our area have put up with a lot, we can take the worst the world throws at us and still find a smile, we’re tough. This song is pathetic, whimpering nonsense, it needs something up lifting, something that represents the area.

Not.... we used to do stuff... we don’t now..... my dad worked hard and I’m sad because my iPhone battery is down to 8%.

Okay, I’ve tried, I give up. I’m glad you are down to 8% battery
