Would you challenge racism/homophobia at the game?

Dunno mate I was at uni. And even if I hadn’t been it’s unlikey I’d have started hanging around with Chelsea hoolies as I support Sunderland
It was well known that the headhunters had links to far right groups like combat 18 in the early-mid 1990s.

My point is that this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Chelsea hoolies were horrid bastards as people on here will testify when we played them in the milk cup run.

Two occasions

1. When i was with out lass I ignored it and kept quite. Can't risk it.

2. The other time i was with my mate and I went to town on a group of lads. ( SAFC supporters calling Kenwyn Jones a BC ) they were little scruffs in trackies. It nearly kicked off then steward chucked them out.

To me racism and homophobia is low IQ - I dont know if it can be fixed there and then, they're just not smart enough to get it.
Absolute nonsense. You’ll find racism is evident accross all levels of intellect and class. In no way is it exclusive to lower IQ

I've never confronted anyone for racism at the match tbh - whenever I've heard comments they've always come from behind me (so not sure who said it) or from a group of pissed-up meathead types and I didn't fancy getting my head kicked in.

About 5/6 years ago I was on the metro and some pissed charver bloke started randomly having a go at this teenage Asian lad, couldn't make out exactly what was said but the "P word" was used. I put myself in between the two of them and told the charver to fuck off, thankfully a couple of others backed me up, the lad backed down and that was the end of it. If someone was being directly threatened or abused like that (whether it's to do with racism or not), I'd like to think I'd always do something to help the victim.

Me and my marra have shopped some folk sat next to me for being racist towards Kenwyn Jones. Was a bit awkward as there was five of them and they looked a bit mental and were season card holders. Thankfully they didn't suspect us as I wouldn't have fancied my chances. They stopped that but still walked in or out every five minutes so we moved.

That's the only time I've heard anything racist since we moved to the SOL, save a kid calling Suarez a "racist spic bastard"

So he hasn't had the balls to say anything but puts it on twitter. Couple of points for me;

Don't go on Twitter and say you're going to do something, just do it.

Why is he speaking to the other fellas directly, does he know they're on twitter but is scared to name them or is he just trying to sound tough.

We've got fans saying don't sign anymore africans when the fella in question is French ffs

Off course it is ffs, you're suggesting all gay people are soft.
Bollocks.

Language is not fixed it’s contantly in motion. ‘Gay’ used to mean happy and care free (and still does) but now it also means homosexual. ‘Puff’ used to be a derogatory term for homosexuals (and still is) but is also a term for a soft shite who collapses into tears when under duress.

It’s possible for words to have more than one meaning. When you say ‘get up you puff’ to a player, regardless of the perceived etymology of the word, you’re not really accusing him of being homosexual, you’re just accusing him of being a soft shite.

If I were to be anal  about this, you could say that the shout 'get up ya puff' hypothetically is about gay people because they are seen as... shall we say being feminine and therefore 'softer' than a 'man' however, when I've said this in the past I don't think about it this deeply. I just shout 'get up ya puff' cos the soft as clarts.
