The capitalist imperative is working very well on the producing of food front. The supermarkets are groaning with food and no one needs to go hungry.
It's a distribution problem then but restriction of supply and value maintainance for profit seem to be not helping the hungry casualties of the overall system. That's why the supermarkets need to take direct action that cuts into the sacrosanct always profit notion.
As for the system working well it may do for (most of) us but I'm not so sure some parts of the world that supply our food to those monoliths are really benefitting, but that's another story

Never heard of him. Reading up on him he has done quite a few high profile and difficult jobs down here. Sounds like it is a gain for Northumbria
Mate said he is canny like. But the caveat was that no matter how good he is Vera is still pulling the strings.

This is where we differ on how we see the world. It's the State's responsibility to look after the genuinely vulnerable. Everyone else has to fend for themselves. If they make bad choices, they go hungry, IMHO.

As you say that's where we differ on how we see the world. Kids don't make choices in who their parents are people don't chose mental health, sickness, homelessness, marital break down, redundancy or long term wage restriction

Yeah that is what I hear from people I worked with up there.
She is one of the worst PCCs who seem to forget that their role does not involve being in charge of operational policing. Still, some government might eventually see what a farce PCCs are and rightly abolish them.

If kids aren't fed they would end up in care. People who are vulnerable would be helped. All the others in the categories you mention would not go without food without making bad choices. IMHO.

One you're entitled to but I fail to see how being made redundant or your wife cheating on you and pissing off with all the money is avoidable bad choice. We all operate on a hit and hope basis anyone can come unstuck, doesn't mean their original choice was inherently bad.

Neither would lead most people to have no food to eat.

I think you are conflating the two things.
There is a connection. There is an abundance of food but people are hungry when they could be given it. The reason it is not given away (even out of date in the main ) is to maintain its future value as a commodity. Its a commodity currently in abundance by clear demonstration of waste , the suoermarkets invest in choice not need. Let them maintain the choice if they wish but at least give away the cheap end when people are hungry and supply is high

The people of the family i know are all really nice, was a couple of his cousins in my year at school. Always a few bad ones in any community, but think they sometimes are used to be made an example of.
One of my daughters teaches at Bish and she gets respect from the gypsy kids and their parents (there's hods of them in Bish).
