Checkatrade trophy 3rd round draw

In terms of the actual game itself. Who would be favourites ? I’m guessing Sunderland as it’s their first team and they’re at home, but is there much difference in actual standard ? Does a third tier clubs first team equate to a premier league clubs under 23s ? I’ve no idea to be honest. I presume that it must be fairly even if they let premier league reserves play ?

if i were a bookie i'm guessing the odds would be
them 1/4
draw 9/2
us 11/1

theres a big gulf in truth, Sunderland even before the last round were favourites to win this tin pot competition, they are now in truth playing the weakest "side" in it.

We shouldn't expect to "batter" anyone was my point.

stop trying to dampen the expectation man ,you don't fool any fucker

Just been speaking to some mag family members.
They don’t go to games regularly but are planning on getting tickets for this.
They are saying it’s a no lose for them as it’s only their under 21s against our first team.
My reply was if it’s such a no mark game why do they want to go and watch it?
Total silence.

to laugh at you, and imagine if we won, scenes

I like it how the mags all know what team Jack Ross will pick. Perhaps they should tell him the formation too the deluded fuckwits :)

Against Notts County we played 1 player who also started the game against Accrington yesterday. We haven't been playing our first team in the checkatrade.

I would expect us to play a similar side against the mags under 21's but we should have also another 2 or 3 back from injury by then too.

show me where i said we'd win? you can't.

the bairns will and should be battered man, this is a first team fixture for you against our younguns ffs, that in itself from our end is hilarious :lol:
Its not that funny, but you've got to pretend it is, as you're on here

would you lay me evens on a SAFC win ?

From what I've read the FA/Premier League/EFL etc believe they are of a similar standard and this is why they allow u23s to enter. They're trying to find a way of letting Premier League teams have a 'B team' in the lower leagues and this is one way to try and prove they're of a similar standard.

It’s bizarre how you can see this is as big as a game as you suggest. It’s tragic that as a Sunderland fan you think we’re so far apart that this is now your derby.
A proper derby would see you hurling abuse at your Joey Barton’s, your Alan Shearers etc. Your seriously telling me your going to get so worked up over a game against a bunch of kids. Come off it.

If this is the biggest game of your season and you think it’ll pull the biggest crowd then good luck to you but we’ll agree to disagree on this one.
We won’t get a biggest crowd of year but to suggest it’s not a fairly big game is bollocks imo. we can’t win anyway as has already been said, if we get 20/25k its shite and embarasssing that we can only sell that for a game against you. If we sold 40k plus it’s embarassig against your under 21s. Personally I couldn’t care less, I hope we win but I would play a similar side (maybe slightly stronger than recent rounds) with half first teamers and half our young lads.

Compare the line ups of our side in last 2 checkatrade games to the previous game. You'll find at least 9 changes in both games.

We are playing the reserves even if you can't get that into your thick mag skull.
Oy! I was talking about Sunderland! I'm not thick or a mag.

I'm not a betting man but we'll be huge favourites to beat your kids because we have a big squad for league 1. We have several players not currently starting games who are of a similar standard to those that are in the first team.

We have an England under 20 player who has had to go on loan to Grimsby because he couldn't get on the bench for us.

We should smash your kids, they'll be no excuse if we don't whichever side we play.

Agree with all of that.
